Re: Drawings for new studio - comments welcome

I would try to avoid parallel walls and right angled corners if at all possible, as it can cause terrible phase issues and frequency build-up (unless you completely dampen the room, but then the...

Re: Fastest Double Bass Player?

I couldn't have said it better myself. Double bass in such extremities just isn't cool anymore, IMAO

Re: rhcp walkabout - transscriptions?

He's doing one-handed syncopated fills on the toms (with his right hand) while bouncing the stick on the snare lightly for the doublestroke ghost notes with his left... I dont know about a live...

Re: Every drummer should be on here with a story

I was playin a gig at a bar in a college town once, and was pretty pressed for money, so I didn't have a spare snare head. Sure enough, I busted it on the 3rd song (out of 8), and the other drummers'...

Re: Stick Throwing (Accidental....)

A few years ago I put a stick through the speaker of a bass amp... luckily (or unluckily, however you look at it) it was mine. The more you practice, the more natural it comes, and in turn the less...

Re: Drum terminology translation guide...

Thats really funny. Its true, I've heard many of those terms in the same context. Glad someone finally cleared it up, it gets frustrating trying to communicate with guitar players.

Re: Practice routine question

I would try and find out what areas you need the most work, and then spend more time on those in addition to others. Maybe record/videotape yourself? you can learn a lot about yourself this way. Many...

Re: Can You Help Me??

If you want to make a career out of drumming, you're kind of going against your own cause looking to download music for free. Songs on iTunes are less than a dollar. If you have a laptop, or you...

Re: Clumsiness?

Yeah, I used to beat my self up pretty regularly, then I realized how ridiculous it was. It's a matter of practicing, and a good sense of control. I haven't done it in a while, thankfully. You just...

Re: buying a new drumset...

Yeah he doesn't have the hardware for it, he'd have to put on lugs, probably having to drill holes as well... And he dreams of a new kit, as we all have/do at some point.

Re: buying a new drumset...

Yeah, the brand of the kit is only a matter of personal preference. I'm partial to Tama's kits, and soon enough a custom kit, but that's just me- there's great kits from the major companies as well...

Re: Tips for First Time Rock Band Drummer?

Be aware of what compliments the music, and what doesn't; sometimes less is more. Follow the bass player, and make sure he/she does the same- the rhythm section lays the foundation for everything...

Re: click tracks...spawn of satan?

One thing I can say about Nashville, where I currently reside, is that click tracks aren't used very often. the session players (it's usually the same guys on a lot of the songs) are trusted enough...

Re: buying a new drumset...

You don't need a new drumset, just upgrade yours a little and you'll be fine (and your pockets will be happier too). Resonant heads on the toms- new hoops/lugs if you need them, new heads all around,...

Re: How many projects are too many?

Do what you must to keep a good name for yourself, even if it means giving up the throne on a project or two. It's a smaller world than most of us think, and word travels fast. A sub is your best...

Re: First Band Practice!

You should play whatever benefits the music. I've been in many situations like that- either bite the bullet and do what he asks, or have good reason for not doing so to prevent conflict. I always...

Congrats on the good practice, keep it up. Advice: Treat your bandmates like brothers, you might have to live with them at some point hehe.

Re: Joey Jordison

Slipknot has plenty of dynamic to their music, which can be pretty tough to play. Until you listen to every part of every song then you can't say whether he sucks or not, because odds are you missed...
