Re: Hiring drummers for a project, need drummer advice.

Not a pro drummer but as a pro salesman I smell an inverse auction trap... Don't get caught guys :)

Re: Drummer Apps for the iPhone?

I'd say if the phone has an effect on that, that means the app is garbage.

Re: Drummer Apps for the iPhone?

I like LiveBPM. If you think you don't need a metronome, LiveBPM will prove you wrong. Or maybe it won't :)

Re: A bad kit shipped to UK?

A decent newspaper would have obtained the drum maker's comments instead of publishing a totally one sided story. Or at least a pic of what it's all about. In absence of that I guess all that seems...

Re: Rock Gigs Not Very Rock Anymore?

Rude, maybe, but what do you expect people to do when she's unexciting?
These politeness rules distract from what it's about. Look at musicians playing in the street where we don't have to be polite...

Re: Rock Gigs Not Very Rock Anymore?

Don't expect generosity from the audience. The audience pays to be there. The band is paid to be there. It's up to the band to be generous and make people dance and forget their on line avatars.

Re: Could have been awkward ...

Have you asked your daughters' permission?
Lol!
I told mine, you both know that daddy is an old fart whatever he does, so I will just do what I do and you'll have to put up with that! I never ask...

Re: when is the right time to move on to the next exercise?

Agree, and that starts with having in mind what you want to learn or improve with each practice session, rather than just sitting down and going through the routines while thinking about other things...

Re: Buying First Drum Kit

Stewart Copeland used to play on an Imperialstar. So it's good enough to become world famous. Now if, besides becoming world famous, you want a higher end kit, go ahead but that's less money for...

Re: Tips on Selling a Drumset?

Excellent tips below.

Another one: With funny tom angles your ad will go viral on drummer forums and you will have six million buyers the next day :)

Re: Call and response audience participation

To me that sounds like a funk thing to do. Take any 70s live funk album and the one track that is longer than 20 mins probably has a "we say X and you say Y!!" exercise in it.
I'm at work and can't...

Re: when is the right time to move on to the next exercise?

Good question. Whatever the case I continue until I see no more noticeable improvement. Then either I am fed up with myself and continue the next day or it feels good enough to check the box and show...

Re: Could have been awkward ...

It could as well be a lot of fun. Go show your chops (or groove :)) then introduce yourself just before they hire you and enjoy the funny looks...

What's with the Stage Custom snare?

This (the latest pic in the driver's seat thread) is now the zillionth Stage Custom I see, on DW and in ads, of which the snare has been replaced.

I was wondering, what's "wrong" (quote - unquote)...

Re: Buying First Drum Kit

Hi Okashira and welcome,
This is a question that is asked a lot (like, every other day). You will want to spend a good part of your budget on cymbals. One kit or the other in the same price range is...

Re: Tune Bot Snare Drum Tuning

I too think that's where he's coming from.
You should see Groove Essentials as a cook book.
Ask a cook how many dishes he has in his cooking vocabulary and he will go errrr...??
Define dish....

Re: groove vs chops?

Back to the throne...
