You're right, that sparkle finish really lights up in the video. The higher tuning on that drum sounded great, too.

I've never tuned an 18 inch floor tom before, but here's what I do with my 16 inch floor:

With the reso head muted, like on a round drum throne, I get the batter head to the pitch I want it...
