Re: The legendary sweet spot

The Sweet Spot definitely exists. Every drum that I have ever owned has several of them. By that I mean that depending on the heads, the tuning, and the environment, along with many other factors,...

Re: George Way Drum Co. ?

George Way was truly a master builder. He has past away as we know but his legacy lives on.

Re: Lacquer vs Wrap - how much does it really matter?

Makes no difference as far as I can tell. Wrap is better suited for kits that are frequently banged around from the demands of gigging, etc because it is more resilient.

Re: New kit....don't know why though

Cool little kit. Does one really need a reason to buy a kit? You saw it and you must have seen something that you liked about it in order to buy it.
It shouldn't be any more complicated than that....

Re: OT: Clark Terry Dead, Age 94

Clark was one of the great ones that's for sure. I have always liked the trumpet. I have always liked his playing.

Re: Got hustled, any input apreciated

Your best option is to keep them and use them. They really aren't bad drums, they just aren't as good as the earlier Rogers kits.
You only lost a few hundred dollars to learn a lesson that is much...

Re: So how's this for bitter?

I have only been close mic recording my drums for about a year. I only recently purchased a mixer and a 14 track interface. I use both a ported and full heads on my bass drums. I had no trouble...

Re: Bobby Colomby

I struggled to play along with this tune when I was a kid. I still listen to BS&T today on a regular basis. Bobby was an icon for me. I loved his timing and control.

Thank You Folks At Shure Microphone

Thank You to the staff at Shure for replacing the left earpiece of my SE425 in-ear monitors free of charge even though I accidentally stepped on it. They even shipped it to me via UPS for free so...

Re: burning a hole into a bass drum?

Several threads here about it and YouTube has several videos that show how to do it in several different ways. I like to use a reinforcement ring around a bass drum porthole just in case a microphone...

Re: Help! Left hand doubles in jazz comping

I feel your pain. I have mixed results on different days with this issue. I seem to have reached my own level of incompetence :)

Re: Restoring hardware on an old kit

Remove the hardware from the drums before cleaning and polishing.
You will never be able to create a new finish unless you have the hardware re-plated. Once the plating is pitted, corrosion will...

Re: Help installing new snare wires on P-83

The Puresound wires come with cloth strips and metal clips to attach them to the strainer and butt plate. Ditch them and go with good old fashioned snare cord.
Thats what I do.

Re: Jazz Snare Tuning

Tight. Both top and bottom. I like Ambassador heads best on my Jazz snare drums. DrumDial reading of about 90 on the batter.

Re: Bands and tempo arguments

I have had this discussion with every musician that I have ever played with.
It is always the same. Even musicians who have graduated from Berkley blame the drummer even when I play back the...

Re: The Bo Eder Pearl Vision Signature kit ;)

My psychological issues would never allow me to play a kit like that even though my logical mind tells me that it would sound fine. Humans are complex :)

Re: Hearing protection?

Just the old faithful Vic Firth headphones or my trusted Shure in ear monitors for me. I don't get as much bass from the Shure in ears as I would like but the dual driver version is all that I could...

Cool kit Dre, I have never seen a clear kit in those dimensions before. Most interesting choice. I'm glad that you are liking it.

Re: Drum Size Question

Depth in snare drums has a much greater influence in the sound. I can easily hear the difference in snare drums that are 1 inch different in depth.
I'm sure that if I had experimented with toms...

Re: Drum Size Question

I did some experimenting with tom depth differences a few years ago.
I found very little audible difference in sound between an 8x12 and a 7x12 tom.
At least my ears couldn't detect it. I found the...

If your thread goes unanswered then just keep on putting up new threads on the same subject with slightly different titles under different headings until you get a response. Thats how FaceBook works....

Re: club date se

Ahhh, I see, it's all mahogany these days :)
I'm not a big fan of mahogany as an inner or outer ply. I don't mind a bit of mahogany in the middle though. :)
