Help me with my ridiculous snare buzz (not sympathetic)

I've got a Tama Metalworks snare. I'm absolutely in love with the drum's tone. I've got the batter tuned pretty high and the resonant a little lower. It sounds great... except when I flip on the...

Re: Give me some linear patterns, please. :)

Thanks! I've been thinking about getting that book for a while now. But I'm cheap and I'm a member of this forum, so I figured I'd just ask you guys!

Give me some linear patterns, please. :)

I've been exploring linear patterns recently, and I was curious as to what kinds of patterns you guys (and gals) like to use in your beats and fills. I'm a big fan of RLRLKKRLRLKRLKRL and KRLKRLRL....

Re: The App Store and drums

You should check out an app called Beatwave. It's got a really easy and unique
interface and you can make you own looping tracks and beats.

"Famous Drummers" Project

Okay, so for my concert band, as an end of the year "project", I'm supposed to list three famous drummers/percussionists, write a biography on one of them and have a sample of their playing. I wanted...

Re: My quest for a perfect-sounding snare...

A Tama Metalworks. It's not the best, but it gets the job done, haha. Thanks for your suggestions.

Re: My quest for a perfect-sounding snare...

An acoustic kit, yes. I've been playing on electronic drums for about 5 years. Sorry for my "whining"; I didn't mean to get on your nerves with my ignorance.

Re: My quest for a perfect-sounding snare...

Okay, so just a quick update: I tightened my heads and now my snare sounds exactly like I wanted it to! I'm ecstatic! Thanks for the help.

My quest for a perfect-sounding snare...

Okay, so I have been tinkering with my snare for a good amount of time now, cutting off snare wires, trying different tunings, etc., but I just can't get exactly the sound that I'm looking for. It...

Re: Cutting Down Snare Wires

I cut out eight strands from the middle. I tried four, then six, but that just wasn't doing it. Unfortunately, I've found that I don't nearly as much snare on my ghost notes. I think I just have to...

Re: Cutting Down Snare Wires

The problem is I don't want to shell out $30 for new snare wires. I'm too cheap.

Cutting Down Snare Wires

I wanted to cut some of the wires from my 20-strand snare wires, because I feel like my snare sounds too "snare-y", if that makes any sense. Does anyone have any experience with this? How many wires...

My snare buzzes if it's not hit dead center...?

If I hit the snare anywhere outside of about a three inch radius from the center of the head, I get this weird "twang" sound from the snare wires. How can I fix this? And if this is normal, how can I...

Re: Looking for a few good drum books...

Try Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials. I have it and I love it. I comes with a DVD where he breaks everything down, and a CD with lots of play-along tracks. I would highly recommend it.

Re: Snare Choice Question

I actually already have a Metalworks snare. I think that's what I'm going to use because I feel like it has more presence. I also love how it looks.

Snare Choice Question

I recently got a Tama Superstar drumset for my birthday, and my question is this: Should I use the 5.5 x 14 inch birch snare that came with the set, or a 6.5 x 14 inch Tama Metalworks steel snare?...
