Re: Band PA ownership options - thoughts, experiences

In the past we pieced together a PA from what the different members already had. That way there is no question about who owns it. I have a small mixer/amp, two small speakers, and a good Crown...

Re: Hey Lefty Drummers

I am left handed and right footed, so I play open handed. I live in the boondocks, so there is no jam night situation for me to deal with. Peace and goodwill.

Re: Looking for a new drum kit, seeking advice

Any of them will be good. Choose by the tom mounts and other hardware. Some do not like the Pearl tom arms, but they are OK with me. I have owned all three brands, and all of them will get the job...

Re: Singers dragging the tempo

The singers at our church do the same thing, slow down the songs. The worship leader and I try to keep it going, but it is like stump pulling. It actually got better when we added a choir. Peace...

I traded in my Sabian El Sabor 21" ride for a ride I no longer have. I should have kept it. Peace and goodwill.

Re: What's On Your Shopping List?

I am happy with my drums and cymbals, and I have the next set of heads waiting for my toms and snare. I will need sticks pretty soon. I like the new Pro Mark .580 Select Balance sticks. Peace and...

Re: Buying options, need help!

I would spend $500 on the drums and $900 on the cymbals, or $700 and $700. Mid-range drums can be made to sound good with good heads and tuning. Cymbals sound how they sound. Peace and goodwill.

Re: Why is it you never see threads saying....

I have hardly ever bought more than one cymbal at a time. Other than snares, I have hardly ever bought one drum at a time. Peace and goodwill.

Re: Pearl Vision Birch - please help!

Could the problem be with that Pearl ISS mounting system? Does a tom sound very different held by hand than it does mounted on the tom holder? ISS mounts have been known to bend hoops too. Peace...

Re: Affordable decent quality tom mounts for Pearl Optimounted toms

Gibraltar does have a Pearl type tom arm/holder, but it is not as good as the Pearl models. I have used both. Peace and goodwill.

Re: Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz

Thanks! The port changes the sound a bit, and it is good for micing the bass drum, which is somewhat necessary if it is being used in a loud band. Some like the sound of a ported bass drum better;...

Re: Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz

I have had a Catalina Club Jazz kit for a few years now, and I still really like it. Mine have a wooden outer finish. I do not care about the wood; I only care about how they sound, look, and hold...
