Re: I've got two months to learn Jazz drumming.

Pollyanna, you couldn't be more right my friend, years of hitting hard have taken their toll. Playing quietly is something I find myself constantly focusing on. :P

Casper, I'm not going to...

Re: I've got two months to learn Jazz drumming.

Ok, so heres the thing. I understand how to read each of those different exercises/measures that you posted. The problem is, I will start to play the rhythm and get a solid feel for the beat, then my...

Re: I've got two months to learn Jazz drumming.

Thanks for all the info, looks like I will be picking up a copy of Mr. Riley's book today.

I know this idea seems preposterous to the vet Jazz stiffs out there. Some of you even seem downright...

I've got two months to learn Jazz drumming.

I will try and keep this short and to the point.

I've been drumming for eight years now. I am currently drumming in two hardcore punk bands. I have been playing in hardcore punk bands for around...

Re: Bass drum sizes to fill the room (hardcore, punk, rock)

Getting the drum out of my house is not an issue.

Regardless, I think the 22"x20" (diaxdepth) is the safest route. I worry about the playability issue with a 26" drum, and even so with the 24"...

Re: Bass drum sizes to fill the room (hardcore, punk, rock)

Yeah, as of right now I am leaning toward the 22x20. Does that extra 2" make that much of a massive difference with the 22x22?

I've been told it really does, but I am having a hard time believing...

Bass drum sizes to fill the room (hardcore, punk, rock)

Hey everyone,

I recently got into drum building for hobby. I would like to build myself another bass drum this summer, but I can't really decide on the size I want to try out. I play in two...

Re: Over Drumming

I think it largely depends on the style of music your playing, as well as the band your playing with. Some forms of music are more drum driven than others and as such allow for more outgoing playing...

Over Drumming

I haven't posted a whole ton on this forum, I usually stick to ghostnote, but nonetheless this topic wouldn't fit in ghostnotes forums very well. So I've come to you guys.

The topic is over...

Re: Bassdrum: a 26" or a 24"?

Harry, where did you purchase your marching drum, and is there any radical difference in sound from marching drums to standard drum set kick drums?

Re: Bassdrum: a 26" or a 24"?

I think I am going to go for the 26".

I already have a solid 22", so I figure why not give the 26" a try.

I would absolutely love to be able to restore an old ludwig or any refurb project in...

Re: Bassdrum: a 26" or a 24"?

Is it cheaper to build a stave shell then to order a keller shell? I usually see only stave snare drums, so you can build a 26" stave bass drum? Im new to this haha.

Also, can you wrap stave...

Re: Bassdrum: a 26" or a 24"?

Bassdrum: a 26" or a 24"?

I am going to either refurbish a bass drum for personal use soon, or I am going to build one from scratch.

I can't really decide on the size I would like. I am currently using a 22" bass drum and...

Re: Metal Bass Drum Sound

Chances are the bass drum on that Avenged Sevenfold album have been pro-tooled in some way shape or form to achieve a more punchy sound.

I used to go for that kind of sound, you will find quickly...

Re: dead time on stage?

I find that dead time on stage is best avoided by knowing exactly when your going to play each song. Write a set list out for each member and keep it on stage with you. You will benefit, trust me.
