Re: Mom and Pop vs the big box

I will never be able to understand why some people experience bad customer service at small businesses. I'm a small business owner myself. There are often many things that I cannot control such as my...

First song I "got" was Fell On Black Days by Soundgarden.

Re: How do you feel about drum offs or drum battles?

"Battle" is silent in Drum Battle.

As long as it stays that way, I'll keep watching and enjoying.

Re: Haggling with Guitar Center?

Who bought out Guitar Center? This is the first I've heard of this.

Re: Can we please agree that this is the most amazing drum cover ever?

It's an interesting take on a catchy pop song with some tasty licks, but I don't think it's deserving of the praise you're giving it. I mean, he's light years beyond where I'm at in my drumming...

Re: I beat the crap out of my drums/cymbals and I'm proud of it:)

I used to think it was cool to bust my gear up. Then I discovered the beauty of dynamics and proper technique. Now, breaking stuff is not cool, and a huge pain in the a**.

Re: Players that sound like they are always on the edge of making a mistake

That's what I was going to say. Some of his licks just make me cringe.

Re: All the great drummers played for....

To be a good drummer, you don't have to practice "for hours". You have to practice as much as you need to.

It also depends on how successful you want to be in the industry. If you just want to...

Re: You, Your Mind, and Drumming

I just love the way it feels. There's just something incredibly satisfying about getting that perfect rebound on a single stroke roll around the kit, hitting the ride cymbal just right to get the...

Re: McCartney: New drummer?

I know what he's talking about. I saw a very short snippet on the news today and the drummer, although well hidden behind Sir Paul, didn't seem to have the same build or kit as Abe. Didn't think much...

Re: In doubt about band

It sounds like you just aren't on the same level as the other guys. I've found that I can never be happy in a band where I'm the most advanced one. I need to be constantly challenged and inspired by...

Re: Posessive pinky

So tonight I was practicing and I think I found a big source of the problem...my middle finger has very little involvment. When I kept it on the stick, it basically gave me the fulcrum I've been...

Re: Posessive pinky

I used to be that way, too. That was when I still had a good fulcrum when playing matched grip. But then, something went wrong. Maybe I just got too experimental with my grip and lost all the ground...

Posessive pinky

I mostly play traditional grip. But whenever I switch back to matched and play anything faster than 8th notes, my pinky on my left(weak) hand wants to clamp down and hang on for dear life. This makes...

Re: how drum kits have changed over time for dif styles ect.

The pigeon-holing that goes on when it comes to drum manufacturers is pretty ridiculous. While certain drums can be more suitable for certain playing styles, virtually all drums can be used in...

Re: Unheated Basement = Safety???

The way I look at it is if I'm not comfortable somewhere, then my drums wouldn't be either.

Re: traditional grip problem

Toza.

Are you keeping your thumb in contact with the first knuckle of your index finger. That's how I was taught to do it and it really helped me keep control of the stick. You don't have to hold...

Musicians should just stop flying on airplanes from now on. Too many have been lost like this. Anyway, setting aside whatever feelings we may have about Travis, he's a drummer and a damn good one at...

Re: How to deal with jerk band members

Bingo.

Every band problem that I've ever had stemmed from this one thing. Any musician who knows what they are doing and cares about the ensemble will be more than willing to work towards a...

Re: Why do my ideas always come in the middle of the night?

I know how you feel man. Some nights when I get drunk and lonely I call my old kits.

I gotta get myself together.
