Re: Can you help me?

My two cents. I think I got most of it correct, except that because the cymbals are supposed to ring out, the first 2 beats should have the curved lines linking each beat. But I know they have to...

Re: Not denting heads

That's why I said "can" because I don't dent my heads much, but a favorite drummer of mine (plays flat toms and uses rebound etc) dents heads very easily using big sticks. His sticks are also heavier...

Re: Not denting heads

I use Vic Firth Corpsmaster drumsticks, or in general, very large drumsticks. I don't say I'm a "hard hitter" because I don't lift my arms and bash my stuff. But I put a lot of strength into strokes,...

Re: We're not copying Travis Barker

See stuff like this is really dumb, how are you copying someone for the way you equipment is set up? What he invented "flat tom" set ups? Are you sure someone didn't OCD about it before hand? Anyway...

Re: Female Drummer Project/Questionnaire

ok ok you're both right and made good points. Focusing on a unique feature is good marketing. And I agree, but some people do it in annoying ways it all just gets on my nerves I guess.

Re: Female Drummer Project/Questionnaire

I'm gonna throw my two cents in here. I have seen plenty of discrimination/prejudice against female drummers, and obviously I'm not ok with it, nor do I have anything against female musicians....

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I agree so much, you got jazz players talking down on metal, metalheads talking down on jazz, and then everyone hates on pop music. Really wish people would just enjoy music.

Lol that's funny,...

Re: Fastest Double Bass Player?

Points being made here. I don't know about BPM but he is clean and good dynamics for something such as blast beats and gravity blasts. And as far as I know he doesn't use triggers.

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

The fact that it's not your own music. Simple as it gets.

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

Haha who are you to say what I do or don't play? Since we're discussing tribute bands my answer is still no, I've never played anyones music live or in a recording nor have I ever made any covers. To...

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

It's just an opinion, I'm not disagreeing with anyone nor am I trying to prove anything.

Re: Is *not* being told you played a great gig as good/better than being complimented?

I think it's the genre, where everyone is focused on the catchy guitar riff that everyone knows, and the drums are just keeping the beat. That sort of thing.

Re: Never bend below the wrist? (Arthritis/carpal)

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

What do you want a book?

No seriously it's simple I just flat don't like it. Why? Because if it's not your music, it's not your freaggin music. It irritates me and I don't like it very much....

Since there is a question mark I'll answer the question. I don't.

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

Yeah I had said it was irrelevant and only said it so people would get the gist of my opinion. For two reasons why it is irrelevant, one sociecty's opinion is completelyy wack in general. Two I...

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

Ok, I'll say it again, even if there not claiming credit, or making money off the artist, I still call it a rip off because it's not there music. I don't care who gets the check, it's just wrong to...

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

Lol you're really evading everything I've said. Anyway, I really don't care what they have to say about tribute bands. Good for them, they're okay with being ripped off, that's a good thing when...

Re: Stick heights/control

If you are familiar with the exercise "eights" you should look into it again. If you aren't, it's just an exercise of doing straight eighth notes alternating between your left and right hand. There's...

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

I said in parenthesis it was irrelevant and was only used to explain my point, not to argue whether anyone on this forum agrees or not. And even if bands aren't claiming credit for the music they're...

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

Except, most orchestra's are hired, by the writer, to perform their music. So that's a little different. But, in general, that was a great point and i could agree to that!

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

Getting paid for playing another musicians music is a rip off. I don't know how to explain it better, when an artist makes another painting of "Mona Lisa" it's a rip off. If it's a copy of an an...

Re: The big debate: tribute bands - yay or nay!?

Wow this made me laugh, you think paying fees makes it okay to play another musician's music? Paying fees has nothing to do with it at all.
