Re: Questions with shipping a bunch of cymbals in an SBK case:

Pad and cushion the cymbals the best you can inside the case, and then pad/cushion the case inside of another box before shipping. I work as a package/mail sorting clerk for USPS, and no matter how...

Re: Hand and foot independence

What I like to do is break down whatever is giving me trouble VERY VERY SLOWLY and work to understand what each limb is doing and where it falls in relation to the other limbs. Go as slow as you have...

Re: Your personal record for most songs learned in the shortest time?

Nothing too crazy. When i joined my band, they were getting ready to release their debut album so I had to learn the whole thing (13 songs) in a month before my first show with them.

Re: Upsetting the band director...

Damn, this gave me chills. Reminds me of my beginnings in jazz band in high school as well as my entire drum corps/drumline career. I had some pretty strict yet effective instructors and if it wasn't...

Re: I need a bigger car for a bigger kick drum

After totaling my Corolla, I saw an opportunity to upgrade to a bigger car so I can transport gear more easily. I ended up with a brand new 2014 4Runner for an insane discount and I love it. =]

Re: Ever had a trainwreck?

Fortunately, I've never had a full on train wreck. But I remember my first show with my current band at the beginning of the year. I had only been playing with them for a month and I had to learn...

Re: Why do we assume that handmade is better?

10/10 reply.

I'll absolutely pay more for a handmade product (anything, not just drums) over a mass produced, machine-built copy of a copy of a copy. And I have and I couldn't be happier.

A...

Re: Proof other musicians don't care how drums sound.

I didn't read the whole thread so I don't know if this has been said, but I didn't buy my Classic Maples for "other musicians". I bought them because I like how they sound, how they feel, and how...

Re: Rudiments: The Big Three

I come from a corps style rudimental snare drumming background, so I'm well versed in all PAS as well as a long list of hybrids. But when it comes to my set playing, the "big three" as well as a few...

Re: It's Official - Vinnie no longer with Ludwig

I don't know man, he's got a pretty sweet gig over at Ludwig. I can't think of any reason I'd want to leave if I had it.

Re: I got my Birthday gift early!

Yeah I read all the horror stories before putting in my order. It sounded like they had quality problems a while back and have since put more money/effort into that area. At least the drums...

I haven't had anything wrong with any actual drum purchases so I've never really had to go to customer service. The only time I did was when I contacted Pearl about a small plastic bushing on the...

Thank you! You've just said almost everything I was feeling throughout reading the thread and now I don't have to figure out how to put it into words without sounding like an ass.
