Re: Multiple Kit Owners, Show Your Favorite Kit

As of now I have a 1963/64 Ludwig kit and a new Taye kit. I really thought that the Ludwig kit would be my last kit but you all know how that goes. The Ludwigs are 13, 16, 22. I bought the Taye in...

Re: First time buyer advice

Sorry Larry, but I have to agree with MatrixClaw. I have sold many drum kits and I have bought several used kits, there is no way that I'm going to sit and watch someone take my drum kit apart. I...

Re: My Camco Refurb with pix!

Every time I see this thread I have to come back and look at those drums. They are just so classy, really beautiful drums.

Re: Which wrap for my new Ludwig Classic Maple?

I've had a few other finishes and liked them too.

Re: Which wrap for my new Ludwig Classic Maple?

WMP has been a long time favorite of mine. Not only do I have a vintage Ludwig WMP, but I also have a Taye orange glitter kit. I think you will be happy with any of your choices.

Re: Sorry I ever got rid of those.

Andy, I can appreciate what you posted. That kit was something special and I'm sure that it warms your heart to see it go to a good home. You make kits to sell and I'm sure that it's like giving a...

Re: Sorry I ever got rid of those.

Bo, thank goodness you feel that way because you have been through as many kits as I have. If you would ever have any regrets I'm sure that it would be devastating. ha ha

Sorry I ever got rid of those.

I just happened to mention on another thread about a set of PDP CX's that I had and got rid of. Then I got to thinking about how many times I've read that some comment on so many other threads about...

Re: What people will pay

Good for you Larry. I don't think you will have any problems with either rewrapping it or the sound. That was by far your best option. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out. By the way I spoke from...

Re: What people will pay

Larry, I'll bet if you look at some of the drum builder supply shops you can find a wrap very close to what you have on your set. Then just pick up a 16 floor tom and recover it. John

Re: Played my first Gig last night.

Have you thought about trying a cajon ? I think they are a tad more versatile than a djembe. Or you could use both. By the way, your hands will toughen up. Keep practicing a little every day. Good...

Re: Acoustic cajon vs cajon with pickup aka electric cajon

When I bought my cajon I purchased a Myers pickup for it. You can mount it with the suction cup supplied or the two sided tape or use screws "included". The pickup is much easier than using a mic....

Re: A little Gretsch drum trivia.

It is so sad the condition that these drums are in, but it is what it is. The drums sound absolutely like crap from the drivers seat but the guys running sound can do magic, I got to hear other bands...

A little Gretsch drum trivia.

Today I got to play at a my home town community celebration. The sound crew had a drum set already set up to play. When I looked up I couldn't believe my eyes. There was a set of Gretsch drums that I...

Re: Cajon players - rock back or hunch over?

Naigewon, No he's not even related.

Kato10, I'm using a small piece of plywood with a non skid material attached to. Usually no problems with it slipping. I can also hook my feet under the front...

Re: Cajon players - rock back or hunch over?

When I started playing my cajon I decided it would be more comfortable for me to sit on a chair and tilt it back between my legs. I also feel that it sounds better without me sitting on it.

Re: Spent about 45 min playing a Cajon today

I second the above post on the Koph. Great sounding and a very professional instrument made in the USA.

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

For jam night who cares what they sound like. For one of the first times Andy I have to disagree with you. A jam night to me is every bit as important as lets say a 10,000 seat concert to a touring...

Re: Do we really need expensive drums?

After many years of playing I have come to this conclusion. For most of us we can take a drum set, just about any drum set that is round and has good bearing edges, set it up in our drum room and...

Re: I feel like I'm in a bit of a pickle.

I feel for brother. I've been stuck in that situtation too many times myself. If you go just try to make the best of a horrible set up. That's all you can do, or you can just bow out. Good luck. John

Re: To Port Or Not To Port... That is the question!

Caddy nailed it. You have to be willing to experiment. Every kit is different, every room is different, every set of heads are different. You have to experiment with all of this and hope to settle on...
