Re: High Quality Stick Bag WANTED

I may be a bit late in here, but i`d recommend the Sonor SSB Stickbag. I have one and it`s really thick and well sown. You should check it out.

Re: Muffling, not muffling...

That was exactly why i gave up using the muffling. I`m running on a Remo PS3 batter + Falam Slam and a Gretsch coated reso head, which is simmilar in thickness and construction (has a ring) to the...

Re: Muffling, not muffling...

That`s quite interesting to hear, over here a lot of people use it for muffling their bass drums.

Well, my BD is 16" deep, and when i used muffling i`d place the foam sideways in such a matter...

Re: Muffling, not muffling...

In my "world", the sponge from the sea and an artificially foam-like material are both called sponge. What i had inside my bass drum was the kind of material you have in mattresses, as pictured...

Re: Muffling, not muffling...

I know you were sarcastic, but i thought "sponge" refers to the material and not to the object per-se.

Re: And i tought i like jazz... (festival report)

A video with a very groovy tune from Adam Baldych Quintet . There`s a piano solo in it and part of the violin solo.

Muffling, not muffling...

Hey guys,

Recently I thought about the sponge inside my bass drum and decided i should take it out because i don`t use it anymore. Took the reso off, sponge goes out, head goes back on, tuning a...

Re: Adding 13" tom instead of 8" !! Advice please

Hey there,
I`m running on a 8-10-12-13-16 configuration. For me, the difference between the 12" and the 13" toms is pretty big for just a 1 inch increment.
I`m not sure why do you want so badly...

And i tought i like jazz... (festival report)

Hey guys,

Just came home from the last day if this year`s edition of Samfest Jazz, my local annual jazz festival. The last 3 days, i must say, really changed my perception on how i see music and...

Re: Good jazz backing tracks?

Thanks everyone.
I wasn`t looking for DVD`s and books , i`m not actually planning to pay for a few tracks as jazz is not my primary interest, i just want a couple of songs to jam to but if i`ll...

Good jazz backing tracks?

As the title says, i`m looking for some good backing tracks in order to develop my jazz drumming. I`d preffer something more swing orientated but anything goes. It can be a slow tempo or fast tempo,...

Re: How does he do that bend?

Thanks very much for the explanations, i`ll try it this week-end when i`ll go to the rehearsal room. I can do it on a desk or other wooden surfaces but i`ll see how it works on the toms. I`ll try it...

How does he do that bend?

Hey all,

I`ve seen this trick being played by a lot of drummers and percussionists as well, but i can`t get it going for some reason and i`m not even sure i get the mechanics behind this. The...

Re: Splash cymbal or not?????

I use a 8" Paiste 2002 Splash right between my hats and my 8 inch tom. It`s really cool. I find it a good addition for placing accents where a crash would be too bright and a hi-hat "sweesh" too...

Re: Trad. grip players check in ....

I`m checking in, too.
the ratio would be 85/15 for me, i only use trad grip for grooving stuff or marching and i love changing mid-song from matched to trad. I tried to see if i can play anything...

Re: Help me "understand" my snare sound, please!

Not sure if i got your drift, but i think you want a seriously muted sounding snare, with no ring at all, is this correct?

Re: your throw off ....where is it?

Well, mine is at roughly 1:30 - 2 o` clock.
It`s there because 3 and 9 bugs me when i`m playing the double bass pedal and 6 feels weird. It`s accesible and "hidden" at the same time. But it works...

Re: What is that microphone?

Thanks for the kind replies.
I was planning something like the ENG style you suggested. I need a friend to operate the camera and another one to start/stop the recording and help me haul my gear....
