Re: Would you notice quantized drumming in a video?

There are drum replacement softwares that can chop up an audio track into separate hits for kicks, snares, etc.

With midi, it's even simpler. Just drag things here and there.

This kind of...

Re: Can you sit comfortably at an E-kit?

I have the opposite problem. I'm more familiar to playing e-kits, so when I sit on an acoustic drumset, I always have trouble arranging things so that I can reach them.

Re: Post your Greatest Weakness

I can't keep up with recording technology and practice at the same time. I feel it gets in the way if you're constantly worried about how good it sounds on tape, rather than how it sounds when...

Re: Excruciating leg pain the day after a jam session

4 hours is way too long to just jam. Just probably stress related, let it rest till the next jam. And be sensible about taking breaks, drumming is a very physical exercise in musical ability.

Re: intermittent drumming and severe wrist pain

If your hand is still hurting a week later, I'd say you've hurt something. Possibly compressed or twisted a vein or nerve; it can be very painful. I had something similar happen to me. In my case, it...

Sorry for the initial intro on my pedals, it was a demonstration. I wish the sound was better, I was using my camera phone.

Re: Who's the fastest drummer on Drummerworld? (on topic)

They definitely feel better. I remember going from my electric kit to an acoustic kit and it was so difficult making the transition to brass cymbals, primarily because of the way they react to...

Guys, guys, on-topic.

One shot, one take. I play on a purple and green mat, so excuse the ending. I'll post a picture.

Re: Drumming Idiosyncrasies

I keep toying with the idea of playing with gloves, because I seem to grip my sticks more loosely, yet they don't fall out. Whereas barehanded, they seem to always go flying off somewhere. My parents...

Re: My 2014 NAMM report

Nice to have a photo to peg with Gene. I had a problem with my Pearl Eliminators once and Gene was a super helpful and nice guy on the Pearl Forums. Got in touch with the store I bought them from and...

Re: My Drum Teacher and Training Regime==It Is Workin!!

Sounds good, man. Wish I had the time to sit down with a teacher for a few hours every week. Don't forget though that a teacher can only take you to the well. To figure out different routes and break...

Re: Who's the fastest drummer on Drummerworld? (on topic)

Triggers definitely have a place in metal drumming, it's just to make sure your audience can hear each note at superhuman speeds.

There are other schools of thought, like Dave Lombardo pointing...

Re: Who's the fastest drummer on Drummerworld? (on topic)

Some great songs you covered, ToddMC. Wish you hadn't cut Raining Blood short, but the Self Bias Resistor cover was real good, always nice to see people using the same technique I do (heel-toe).

Re: Alternate? Or do the same thing?

Au contraire, I think it's important to practice stuff that might not be up your alley. It'll help you build up your drumming "vocabulary".

As far as alternating practice routines, I suppose...

Re: Who's the fastest drummer on Drummerworld? (off topic)

Post counts do not a thread make. Or maybe they do. This was my thread. My thread has been Shanghai'ed.

As far as speed in music, different horses for different courses. Look at some of the...

Re: How can i learn a metal song fast?

I'll second the Guitar Pro suggestion, it's a good way to slow down songs and figure out parts. But beware, playing the parts at speed will be the only real test you have to overcome. Also, I think...

Re: Who's the fastest drummer on Drummerworld?

With Derek Roddy showing up on this thread, the odds of MY being the fastest drummer on DW have become just sickening.

C'mon, guys. It's a joke. A gag. Like who's the fastest drummer on DW? Put up...

Re: Who's the fastest drummer on Drummerworld?

I liked that, MrInsanePolack. The "Cookie Monster" vocals fit the music and the whole production was really tight. I like the drumming too, very classy and old school. Not a big fan of blast beats...

Re: Who's the fastest drummer on Drummerworld?

This thread has devolved into an "I see the use for double bass"/"I don't see the need". Similar arguments to all the threads on single bass/double bass for drums.

You'll note that no one says...
