Re: Technique glitches that are your pet peaves...

Out of timing.

Rack toms set up in a way that makes you try harder to hit them. Also makes you go out of time.

What kind of set is this?

This is most likely custom, but anyone know the specs on it?

It's a piece of art!

My snare's a Yamaha YD Custom 14X4...

I think it sounds great, you just gotta replace the factory head with an evans.

Re: Drum Set Help

With that kind of budget why not enslave a crafter to make you drums whenever you want?
I'd try dw, they look pretty solid for rock. However, i've never used them in person so...

Re: A great 13 year old

Tony Royster Jr. did have a killer beat going in 1992. I can only imagine what sort of talent these kids will have if they continue into their 40's.

I gotta say the 13 year old had the right...

Re: Q: Snare sound on Prince's Gett Off

Though it's anyone's guess, i'd say they drew out the release to like 500ms on the gating. And they used some sort of eq.

Re: This drumset is very weird

Saulda made that set.

I supposedly endorse their cymbals.

But i might drop it because their cymbals are nothing special.

You may be able to go to their drum site and find a sound link for it.

Re: Not thinking much about what you're playing

I can't focus on what i want to do when i do fills, so i just improvise every fill i do without concentrating. From doing this, i've managed to memorize alot of really cool fills. Yeah, i wouldn't...

Re: Tom arrangements

My set is a 10-pc with 5 cymbals, so i don't have a ton of room. I just have an 8, 10, 12, 13, and 16 all in a row from left to right, with a 6, 8, and 10 rotary set above the 13. I find it easiest...

Re: Derek Roddy

Haha drummers in the death/black/brutal metal genres were losers in high school so this is their form of competition, since they probably sucked at sports. Except hellhammer. He played like...

Re: Does Nickolas Barker use triggers?

If musiciands wanna piss money away on flawless sets and then turn around and use triggers, they can go right ahead. Besides, it's still the drummer playing, not the triggers, so it isnt like he's...

Re: Derek Roddy

Does Derek Roddy use triggers? Or does he EQ his tracks alot?

They're pretty crisp because they pick up every stroke he takes.

And he takes ALOT of strokes.

Re: Whats your Favorite fill from a song!?

I know Nick Barker's overrated, and i know he uses triggers, but for some reason i love this fill:

Re: Official "What You Got For Christmas" Thread

I got the pulse roto toms. I thought, pulse sucks, right?

I'm impressed, these toms kick ass.

Also got an 8" Toca Mounted tambourine, and some new hardware.

I'm still using a spare stick as...

Re: How essential are rudiments?

I once knew all 40 rudiments.

That was years ago.

I've practiced the Paradiddle rudiments on my double kicker, and went from 80bpm to 200bpm in only a few months.

By the way, Incubus isn't...

Does Nickolas Barker use triggers?

Anybody know if, on Dimmu Borigr's Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia, Nick Barker used triggers for his set? Or did he just tune the heads a ton and use EQ a lot when recording?
