Be careful buying anything because you think its top of the line.

For example, I can afford any top line set i care to purchase...but my mid line...

The moment the definition moves from "song" to "solo" things degrade.

The song may be just me and my drumset...but the difference between "song" and "solo" seem obvious to me.

I think the key is to tear down/set back up on a regular basis to find what you like - and to allow yourself to avoid stagnation.

i only tend to lean my own works anymore...but when i used to play others works I would jot out the structure in standard notation for myself....though the structures of most songs are usually simple...

What would be very sedate and lulling in one song can be jarring and focusing in...

Porcupine Tree..find "Stop Swimming", "Sound of Muzak" and past 5 minutes or so into "Mellotron Scratch".
