Re: is anyone ever satisfied with their playing?

Oh I see. My point was that maybe satisfaction is the wrong word to use. I'm not sure that satisfaction and contentment share the same meaning. The online dictionary needs a word other than the word...

Re: is anyone ever satisfied with their playing?

I know that feeling and it is magical.

I tell my children all the time that all they can do is try their hardest. That is it! They may not be brilliant at something but as long as they try their...

Re: is anyone ever satisfied with their playing?

If Buddy Rich is your only drumming goal, then of course you will never be satisfied. But its ok to have drumming goals that aren't Buddy Rich (replace with any other unachievable goal). This also...

Re: is anyone ever satisfied with their playing?

To never be satisfied seems a bit strange. Sure there are loads of things I can improve on and will always need to learn but why would that stop me being satisfied? Satisfaction is different to...

Trinity College drum kit grades

Has anyone here looked at the new grade books from Trinity yet? I've just picked up books grades 1,2 and grades 6,7. It is a slightly different format to the last syllabus and this time around there...

Re: Soundguys and drummers

OMG, he must really hate unported drums! There are a lot of bad mannered engineers out there. Is it a UK thing or do all countries have their fair share?

It's great to have you back the way you were, your knowledge and your sharing of it is a huge asset to this forum and a part of you that we all love. Thanks (big smiley face).

Re: Hihat flavours/accents - ignored in rock?

All my years of drumming and I still don't I get the hi hats right.

We supported a fairly well known band over here in the UK, they have been around for years, and the drummer has no hi hat I get...

Re: Soundguys and drummers

Pretty much what the others have said except if you want a certain thing then it does no harm to chat to the sound guy and tell him of any concerns you have about your drum kit. I might mention that...

Re: An attempt at a policy change here

I have never known anyone on any forum to be as openly helpful as KIS, ask him anything and he will respond with helpful advice that, as he says, has no benefit to him. I have long thought that KIS...

Re: I've made a horrific mistake....

Running over my cat would be no mistake, my cat hates me, but that's for another forum. But absolutely take a bit of time, I guess they sound different to what your used to, to the old kit, but isn't...

And on the same day they have anounced the missing Matisse and Picasso paintings turning up... More than just a coincidence I feel. *scratches chin whilst dusting off deerstalker*

Re: Does Budgie use a double bass pedal in Spellbound

Not at all, its great to speak to another Banshees fan. I've never played any of their material but have always loved Budgie's style, its beacause of Budgie and I think it was probably his drumming...

Re: Does Budgie use a double bass pedal in Spellbound

You may be right, I'm finding it difficult to hear. Its always a problem recreating studio sounds live, why not just stick a double pedal through the choruses if it makes it sound right.

McGeogh...

Re: Does Budgie use a double bass pedal in Spellbound

I don't think Budgie ever used a double pedal. Is he not just playing the bass drum on beats 1, the an of 3 and the an of 4 in the chorus with the snare picking up beats 1, 2, 3, 4?

That's a great...

Re: Questioning my sanity - where is the backbeat?

haha, isn't it funny how we both have the same problem but in reverse. I wonder if it is down to the style of music that we are used to listening to that makes it that way? Maybe something to do with...

Re: Questioning my sanity - where is the backbeat?

I'm with you Cam. I can't hear it any other way either. I try playing along to it counting the snares as beats 2 and 4 but I keep slipping back to it being on the an of 1 and an of 3 like you. The...

Re: Being a drummer and a dad.

Being a drummer and a dad means I might not get to go to the London Drum Show. But I don't really mind, if I'm with the children then I have all the entertainment I could possibly ask for. I always...

Re: The official London Drum Show thread. Who's coming - forum member arrangements!

Hi Andy
Yeah, I really do want to but it's looking like I will have to give it a miss this year as I am working Saturday, and Sunday is a very tricky day, I literally won't know until the Sunday if...

Re: Getting Nervous

I had an audition for the Blue Man Group quite a few years ago. It was all going fine, we were all waiting in a cold building in London for what seemed like ages. Certainly long enough for me to...
