Re: screwed up my first gig

Re: screwed up my first gig

Heh...You sound like you had fun. I do not remember much about my first gig except that I had 8 hours of practice TOTAL on a kit (that was not mine) for a gig at our church where the drums ended up...

Re: Would like some feedback on my hand technique

In response to your last post...in the first video it looked like your right wrist was touching your ribs (as if you were about to pat a full belly). If that is true, it would make german grip...

Re: Left hand: uneven strikes & poor grip. Advice needed

I am going to suggest something else. Try steadfastly using nothing but traditional grip for a bit (minimum of a week). The reason being I had a sililar issue (still do). I found that it is easier to...

Re: The mediocre drum guru?

I had a similar situation once. A guy at work got a book on double bass technique but did not know how to read music/charts. I was unable to do the part he was asking about at speed, but was able to...

Re: Time exercises help?

Thank you. At this point in time burying the click confuses me (I know it's on time but not hearing it makes me question myself). I think I will move to the click on + for the moment. It fits me...

Re: Time exercises help?

For those of us that are new to get the most out of this thread, what does "burying the click" mean?

Re: A lesson for all newbies

This is actually something that has just recently started bothering me as well. Except I am on the "other" side here. That is...assuming 2 snare drums are (on the surface) the same. Both aluminum,...

Re: Do you really change drum settings while gigging?

This reminds me of a piece of hardware (actually 2) I have imagined (as a concept. I have NO idea how it would work/fit). A lazy Susan Hi-Hat stand (or in this case a snare stand).

Perhaps it is my newbieness showing, but I am not getting why you would NEED to play that fast. According to the bpm chart I found for dances at beatsperminuteonline.com a samba's high end tempo is...

Re: Child wants a career in music

Will Smith was asked once "if the rap thing had not turned out like it did, what was your plan b?" I loved his response. "There was no plan b. Having a plan b is giving yourself permission to fail"....

Re: Mapex drum set

It looks like a voyager. It is Mapex' bottom end. New it lists for $629 (msrp is 1000 but no one charges that). It comes with everything in the picture at that price. That is all I know.

Re: Limiting myself

What were they?

A long time ago I had a kit made by pearl that looked like roto-toms with a fiber glass concert tom shell attached. I have yet to see anything resembling them again. Does anyone know what they were?
