Re: WEIGHT TRAINING AFFECTS ON DRUMMING(advice needed)

I'd stay away from lifting heavy weight honestly. Maybe if your doing light weight/more reps it would be alright just to tone yourself up. I have always understood the bigger you get the slower you...

Re: Die-Cast Hoops

Try drummaker.com. Cheapest place I have found and they are good hoops! Have them on all my toms and main snare.

Re: Drummers who are great to watch

Agree with everything you said. Shannon Larkin "visually" blows anyone I have ever seen out of the water. Morgan Rose and Will Hunt are also great visual drummers.

Re: Pants leg catchin beater

Depending on how tall your socks are you could stuff your pant leg inside your sock? This is why I always wear shorts when playing. But playing live in the winter time makes it tough.

Re: Punk Rock Drumming

One thing that might help is getting your toms as close to you as possible(if you don't have them that way already). That way you don't have to move around as much.

Re: Hi Hat Rod

I play mine really high. So I have maybe less than an inch sticking out. I have the same hi-hat stand as you btw. I've read on here before that some people order shorter HH rods and some people just...

Re: Adjusting your kit

Same here! So much easier!

But the cool thing about it is because we are drummers we can change around our stuff a bunch of different ways anytime. Guitar players or bass players don't really have...

Re: Adjusting your kit

Sounds like OCD!

I used to do the same thing but I figured out the less I have to work with the easier it is to "set it and forget it".

Re: Piccolo snares--who uses one, and why?

I use one and I play rock/metal but it's mainly used as a secondary snare. I've always thought they were perfect for grooves and make more of in impact from going to quiet/softer parts to...

Re: Anyone tried Lug Locks?

I use blue Loc-tite and it works good. Only problem is when you go to tune the drum the tension is kind of deceiving. It feels like the lug is extremely tight..but when you hit the drum you realize...

Re: Auxiliary/side snare

I just bought a 10" Steel Black Panther before Christmas. Very nice snares...I've never been a fan of Mapex but I was pretty impressed. As far as the mount...I use a Tama tom arm mount attached to a...

Well your in a church....there really isn't much you can do unless you wanna go over the top. Then if you go over the top your taking away from what the focus is supposed to be on. Trust me...I...

Re: If you were to strip down your kit to a 3-piece...

I went from using 5 toms to just 3 and at first it took some getting used to but now I really like it. I actually bought a used Spaun kit last month and it came with 4 toms....tried it but just...

Re: Snare : Metalworks vs. PDP 805

I have a 14x8 metalworks and they are nice! Those little pdp ones sound dead. If ya want a good secondary snare look at the mapex black panthers. But get a good main snare first then the secondary...

Re: The 24" Kick Thread

I bought a used Spaun kit a month ago that has a 24" kick and so far I really like it. My other kit has a 26" so it is taking some getting used to. But I've been into the BIG KICK look/sound for...

Re: How much does gear affect your playing?

In my opinion when it comes to hardware Tama is hands down the best. I've been on my same IC pedals and HH stand going on 6 years now and not one single problem out of them. I don't think you will...

Re: Would Dime/Pantera and Jimmy Hendrix be praised as much if they didn't die?

IMO I have always thought Hendrix was over hyped. I know for that time he was very original but as far as he goes I think his death helped his popularity even more.

Now Dime I'm kinda biased. To...
