That's very true, you can hear it in his solo ideas. When I took a lesson with Steve Rucker from UM we talked about trading 2s, 4s and phrases like this, the first person he mentioned was Joe Jones...

Even if you plan out a solo it will still be improved. When it gets down to the mood and the moment of the show, you'll start doing crazy stuff you didn't practice.

So, Ari Hoenig, great drummer. But seriously, what's up with his arms when he plays? I don't get it! He makes a beautiful sound but his technique is so...I don't know. Can anyone figure it out?
