Re: The social stigma attached to Metal...

Totally agreed. Metal is who you are, what you like and what you play -- not a fashion statement. Unfortunately, there have always been the bands that consider image as important as the music they...

Re: VIntage Ludwig Drums

One tip you might want to try is tuning your floor tom where you want it, and going up in toms from there... in this case, to the 14". I've found if I start tuning the smaller drums first, by the...

Re: Felt strips - where do you put yours?

I would recommend a felt strip on the batter side only... Especially if you're going for that Bonham sound. I have a Coated Emperor batter and Coated Ambassador reso, and I only muffle the batter....

Re: I'm getting a Ludwig (Bonham) Maple Kit . . .

I have a Classic Maple kit in the Bonham configuration. I would recommend tuning higher than you might expect you need to, the resonant head a minor 3rd higher than the batter, and do not use "JAW"...

Re: 26"x14" Legacy Classic bass drum tuning?

Trust me, tune the reso higher. You can play around with it some, but I would recommend on a big drum following this method. It helps with projection. If you don't pitch it up enough, a drum of that...

Re: Snappy comebacks and other barbs for drummers

If you get backed into a corner, and you're feeling completely ridiculed, you could always try the Joe Pesci method from Goodfellas and shoot them in the foot....

Re: Using the same fills...

Maybe try not doing as many fills, if any are required at all. Take Steve Gadd, for example: He openly admits to only having a handfull of different fills he uses in different variations or phrases....
