Re: Recording with a Trigger

Alright so basically here is what I did to fix the problem.
I mic'd the kick drum and triggered it. When I hit it the two waveforms appeared on average 7ms away from each other. Without...

Re: Recording with a Trigger

Sorry for the delayed response I just got back from vacation.

I'll try and isolate the variables, I should be able to go directly into the interface (trigger->firepod->cubase) which would test the...

Re: Recording with a Trigger

You don't need one to record, you can use a microphone instead (most bands do)
but if you use a trigger it will make faster playing sound cleaner because the sound wont change. If you use a mic,...

Re: Recording with a Trigger

The trigger is triggering a kick drum sample.
I have tried different samples, I have also looked at the waveforms of the samples I'm using and they start at 0s, there is no empty space. There is...

Re: Recording with a Trigger

I don't know much about my computer, its a dell from around 2002, its not a bad model.
The interface is a presonus firepod.
This delay only occurs with the trigger, with mics its fine, which leads...

Recording with a Trigger

I'm trying to record my kick drum with a trigger, but there is a ~5 millisecond delay between the when I hit the drum and when the sampler generates the sound. I'm using a ddrum kick trigger->spds,...

Re: Best placements for recording with an SM57 and an SM58

I would place the sm58 in the bass drum to get a good kick sound.

I would place the sm57 about 2 inches to the left and 6 inches above the snare pointed toward the far end of your snare(closest to...

Re: birch/bubinga or maple?

I tried the kits and here is what I have personally discovered.
From top to bottom, these are ranked from more appreciation to less.

Starclassic Maple- Full sound, attack is present without...

Re: Why would TAMA get rid of the Starclassic Performer Birch

This is gonna hurt me.. I'm selling my performer when my new maple comes in.

Osso12 its possible to get lower prices you just have to negotiate with a sales rep. I just bought the SC maple in 22,...

Re: Thoughts on Tama Starclassic drums

I played a Starclassic B/B kit today. In my opinion, your much better off spending a little more for the maple or bubinga. The way I hear them, they are ordered as follows:

Maple/Bubinga
B/B...

Re: starclassic bubinga

Hey steamer that is one beautiful kit, I really like the finish.

I negotiated with guitar center and brought the price to 2100 for the four drums. I don't know how they made that shell pack...

starclassic bubinga

In the next month I will be ordering a tama starclassic bubinga in 12 13 16 and 22. I'm curious as to why I hear so little about bubinga. Is it a new wood in the drum business? After comparing...

Re: Adjusting to play 1 up 2 down setup

I had that setup for a while, then I added a second rack. Both my toms are moved to the side so I have that space for the ride.

I would recommend using the 2nd floor a lot to get used to it being...

Re: Drumming personality VS the real one

I play with a very serious face..
I'm usually pretty serious.
When i gig i'm exited so I can't really explain my expression being serious though.

Re: Masters, 3 up 1 down

I've tried, and I can't get my 14 comfortably above the bass drum. I run 2 up, 2 down, 12, 12, 14, 16. I keep the two up to the left, one in the middle of the kick and one just off. A 13 IMO is...

Re: fastest feet ever...seriously

Lech is their drummer, he is pretty talented. As for the band, they rock I love their stuff. It's a shame they look so emo..you'd never know from listening to them.

Re: Best Bass Pedal?

I would recommend against the yamaha flying dragon.. from my several years experience, I found that it is not the most reliable pedal. I like the feel, but I've already replaced critical pieces, and...

Re: Yamaha Nouveau Lugs

I haven't had any problems with mine. I do worry though..the tension is about as high as it can go.
I've had my snare for about a year and a half.

Re: Considering stopping lessons for a while...

I completely agree. After my lessons started to become "pointless", I quit and started playing what appealed most to me. It's been about a year without lessons now and I've progressed MUCH more...

14'' 2nd Rack Tom

What do you all think about a 14'' tom as a rack tom?
Im changing my setup because I'm getting a 16 inch floor tom tommorow, and I tried my 14 as a second rack tom and it is way too big..it just...

Re: Angling the bass drum

That is the setup of most kits with two bass drums. Also, the Giant Step pedal allows for this angle while leaving the bass drum and you facing the audience. As for single pedal(or any other double...
