Re: I need a LOUD snare HeLp!!!

A Ludwig Supraphonic will never let you down in the volume category. Don't worry what year its from. Get on ebay and grab a used one for $200 or so, then make sure you have earplugs.

Re: Your top three drumming tracks of all time?

Kashmir - Bonham - This song showed me how simplicity can create an almost anxious feeling to the listener, thus making the song intense without being too 'metal'.

Enima -Danny Carey - Tool - This...

Re: Tama Rockstar from 1990-93

I have a Rockstar RK kit from '93. It was only a step above the Swingstars at that time. With the right heads, it sounds great as a second kit. It is a worthy purchase, especially if the kit that...

Re: Single Pedalers:

I have been playing for 13 years, and received a double pedal 6 months after I started playing. I loved it for over ten years....because I played metal. I changed styles and quit playing double...

Re: making my snare more sensitive

I would make sure that your reso is in fact a snare side reso, thinner than any single ply batter side. Then, just crank it up and loosen your snare wires. I like to get the wires just touching the...

Re: opinions on Tama Starclassics from 5 years ago? "Starclassic Starclassic"...?

I love the sound of my Performers when they are wide open, just a coated 2-ply and a single ply reso. If you want a more controlled sound, try a 2-ply (clear or coated) with a piece of moongel on...

Yeah, those are birch. I have the dark blue color, but damn that green is pretty cool. Great buy!

Re: opinions on Tama Starclassics from 5 years ago? "Starclassic Starclassic"...?

I have a Starclassic Performer kit that is 6 years old. Yes, they were called Performers then too. I absolutely love my kit! I can get it to sound any way that I want, and the looks never...

Re: Gene Hoglan

I find Gene's playing so good that its almost comical. I think that he is one of the most underrated metal players out there. People are constantly talking about Jason Bittner, Joey Jordison, and...

Re: Jason Bittner

I have heard Bittner's playing quite a bit from CDs, I have seen him live and on various videos and I just don't see it. I think that he is a very competant metal player, and is very solid and plays...

Re: Ludwig supraphonic snare 6.5 tuning

The first thing to do is replace BOTH stock heads. The Luddy reso is actually thinner than a Remo Snare side, so it thins the sound as well. I crank the hell out of the bottom and make the top...

Re: What drums did Bonham use?

Thats odd, the new Ludwig Stainless kits are advertised as "100% stainless steel shells". I wonder if the new kits are different in this way?

Re: What drums did Bonham use?

According to his drum tech, Jeff Ocheltree, Bonham never used the Vistalites in the studio. that would only leave the maple, or maybe in the later years he used the stainless steel kit. That I...

Re: Floor Toms, why do we love them so?

For me it clears space in front of me so I don't feel like I have to be doing a bunch of tom fills all of the time. I can put the ride where I want it, but I still want three toms, so it was a...

Re: To all Ludwig Maple Zep set owners!

The idea was not to sound like Bonham. I like his sound fine, but I would want something a bit different. I was getting at this: Do the larger sizes make a huge difference when compared to say a...

To all Ludwig Maple Zep set owners!

To all of the owners of this kit, give me your thoughts on it versus your old kits. I have a Tama Starclassic and I love it, but the Luddies and big sizes are calling my name. I just have to...

Re: Drummers who have influenced you

These aren't neccessarily all of my favorites, just the ones that I think have influenced me in some way.

Bonham
Danny Carey
Matt Cameron
Sean Kinney (underrated)
Dave Farris (local guy)...
