Re: Ludwig Copper Phonic

The hole pattern is not the same. Typical Ludwig "New and Improved" design!
I'm waiting for a polished version but these patina shells are growing on me.
I would love an a/b test with a bronze...

Re: Ludwig Copper Phonic

Beautiful!
The shell looks really nice.
Great vintage look except for the huge die cast P-33 butt! I love the P-32, screws and all.

Re: dw colllectors experts, need info

Email the sticker photo to DW. They can tell you specifics on the kit.

Re: Ludwig Copper Phonic

The gaskets have been on for years.
The ears on the 2.3mm hoops stick out farther than the vintage Ludwig 1.6mm hoops. You can switch out the hoops and remove the gaskets if you want.

Re: LUDWIG 5.5" SUPRPAPHONIC...

I'd rather see a 13" wide Supra.

Re: Trying out the Dunnett R4-L strainer

+1
No problems with the P85/86's on my Supras. My favorite is the P83 on the 60's drums.

Re: Should I convert 14" and 16" toms to floor toms?

I added Ludwig Classic brackets and legs to my Genista 14 and 16.
Love the sound and easy setup.
Fritz, no problems drilling through the lacquer, just make sure the drill bit is sharp and drill...

Re: maple/oak hyrid snare

I would take either one.
Pork Pie and Ludwig make great snare drums.

Re: DW Fans testers users, questions for you

I own two Collector's kits, Cherry shells and Maple with Tamo Ash exotic veneer. Both are incredible. Got the Cherry kit from Dale's.
The Performance Series are also very nice and less coin.

Re: Lugwig Legacy. How good of a deal is this?

Legs are Ludwig's top line so they are priced accordingly.
No one else is doing three ply shells with solid maple rings.
My DW lacquer kits cost more than my Legacy exotic. I love both brands.

Re: Ludwig Copper Phonic

I'm interested but will wait for a polished version.
I have a 5.5x14 DW copper, rolled shell with flanges, not the current 3mm straight wall version and love it.

Re: Seen these yet

That reissue wrap has been around for years. It started with limited edition snare drums that were very pricey.
Note the two right hand gloves!

Re: Questions re Yamaha's tight fitting tension rods

The lugs have a plastic insert that causes the tightness. Yamaha claims it helps keep the drum in tune. It does take some getting used to...

That is a nice looking kit.
