Re: Shallow toms - 20x16" Bass 8 10 12 14FT - Advice

Re: How tense are you when you play?

Once I see the first person react to the music, I am smiling!

I am still trying to control...

Re: Shallow toms - 20x16" Bass 8 10 12 14FT - Advice

Thanks man, I have to admit to being excited!

Website is saying 30 days so I am setting my expectations at 4-6 weeks. Their current offer is a free mounted tom and that is a separate order that...

I decided against the Yamaha's. It was largely a decision based on 2 factors. I do not like the finishes or the tom mounts on the Yamaha's....

Re: Chris Squire, Yes Bassist found dead

RIP Chris. One of my favorite bass players and a great band! I did not realize he was the only member on every album.

Re: Shallow toms - 20x16" Bass 8 10 12 14FT - Advice

Oh boy Mapex is offering a free tom with the purchase of a 4 5 or 6 pc set this month. I can get the exact sizes I want with the Mydentitys. Time to talk to the house ways and means committee!

Re: What is your drum setup pet peeve?

When another drummer uses your kit some adjustments are expected. But don't move my memory locks! Had a drummer do that just a couple weeks ago. Grrrrr

Re: How to stop playing slightly ahead of the beat?

Our guitarists asked me to play ahead of the beat. It is not a natural tendency of mine but simply took some conscious effort to do it. Now whether I am doing it well is another story.

Re: Why doesn't anyone make quieter drums?

I do also think that playing too quiet can really lose the tone of a drum so I was thinking that if thre were drums made with the intent of not being louder but rather being on the low end of volume...

Re: Getting Over Being Timid/Shy Playng Drums??

I have heard some good advice about mentally focusing on the music and not your performance in order to play best. I think that fits here too. Don't worry about your performance as in hoping it will...

Re: Why doesn't anyone make quieter drums?

From Frank:

"I'm a drummer, and even I think many drummers are obnoxious.
Nothing worse than being out wanting to enjoy live music over drinks, only to have a drummer make everyone deaf for the...

Re: Shallow toms - 20x16" Bass 8 10 12 14FT - Advice

The smaller bass drum and smaller toms would allow me to pack easier. But I fit all of my drums in the back of my Equinox now and the stand bag and other equipment fits in my backseat, including a...

Re: Shallow toms - 20x16" Bass 8 10 12 14FT - Advice

Really the problem with depth of toms other than overall weight is that the 11 x 13 tom means I have to angle my toms more than I would like. Add that to a 22" bass and the toms need to be pretty...
