Re: Benny Greb Language of Drumming - DVD or No DVD??

DVD covers the same material, but it's really well made, fun and inspiring.

Re: Gary Chaffee PATTERNS: Your experiences and suggestions

I got these books when I first started drumming about years ago.

They got put into my routine just as part of my basic training.

Now that I've been through more stuff and can slowly start...

Re: Going to a Dave Weckl instensive and couldnt be more excited

I went to the one in Oslo this summer.

You'll be able to ask about pretty much anything, so my main tip is to think about and take some notes in that regard.

There will be a lot of focus on...

Re: Making the most out of limited practice time

I practice tons of things every day, but I also have many hours free to do so.

If I was really pushed for time I'm not even sure I'd take lessons except to ask specific quesions about a given area...

Re: 3 piece for Metal (is it good enough)?

I'd personally add a couple of floor toms. One would suffice, though. Flams on the snare can only get you so far and that deep tom sound is kind of important for other stuff as well.

For...

Re: How to inspire a new student in 45 minutes

If it's a kid with no musical background, the drumkit is pretty much off limits at my lessons. It might be used in a small way sometimes, but basics first.

Re: Where can I get a snare weight?

When you have everything. Moongels, rings of different sizes and even a Remo Weckl dampener, then this is something your girlfriend can buy you for christmas and you might end up using in the studio...

Re: Does anyone else hate splash cymbals?

Splashes are the percussionists spice in the category other jangly stuff. I'll alsu gladly hit my 12" splash when I feel my 15" crash would be to much.

I got 8",10" & 12". Thinking about getting a...

Re: Going to Dave Weckl clinic

The intensive was totally worth it. Almost 10 hours with just one short lunch break of instruction and guidance. Also the first teacher to, instead of wondering why I play traditional and urging me...

Re: A question for Dave Weckl..

Dave switches to thumb and index, typical orchestral method, for the buzz roll. Left hand tilts as Chapin does.

Re: Your personal record for most songs learned in the shortest time?

For first gig with a cover band. 60 songs (4 sets) in one day. Really easy stuff, though. ABBA, Stones, Shania Twain. Stuff like that.

Re: Can music ever be financially rewarding again?

What's happening with records is criminal activity, there's no denying that.

However, there are many other ways to make money in music and if you can do without the dream of the mega bucks and...

Re: Tommy Igoe: Groove Essentials

Must be one of the most popular drum learning packages ever since it came out.

There is a 2.0. With less essential stuff in a way, but still good to work through.

There was a rumour about a...

Re: Playing the bass drum slightly ahead of the beat?

Awareness is a good thing. However, the grid does not groove or swing.

Does it feel good? If "yes", then it is good. End of story.

Re: What do you do when you have a gig but a better one comes up?

I think it's important to homour agreements, but there are ways around it. Maybe you can find a sub.

I quit a band short notice once, but that was because I was completely broke and was offered a...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

A pair of Vic Firth Colaiuta Signature sticks. They're useless. Nothing like the Zildjian ones which I love.

I once did a mistake when I tried to order a pair of Regal Tip brushes and ended up...

These sections stay the...

Re: Heuer Drums

Guess that means Gretsch isn'r a real builder either. Same goes probably for a lot of big names.

I personally just want a flawless product based on my own tonal estetique. That basically just...
