I keep my legs in a slightly wider angle than 90 and my upper snarehoop reaches a good 4 inches (10cm) above my thigh. This way my hands have enough room to play freehand rolls. I had trouble doing...

Don't rush things, i did it an regret it now. I practiced 2-4 backbeat with 16'th on bass under it from 80 to about 140. When i got to 140 it sounded liek rubbish.

Playing to guitar-pro backing tracks of my band's music and having a Perfect timing really satisfies my. It drains al the stress in me. Therefore i start warming up with playing to one of our songs.

It's also a matter of being relaxed. My max is at 165bpm now playing 16ths but i don't reach this every time i want to. it mostly comes to me after warming up for about 15 minutes like cephalic said....

I spent a good amount of time practicing solely my fingers. Although i find myself playing rarely on fingers alone when i'm behind a drumset.
If i want to play i fast fills, i just play my wrists...

I set my hats up exaclty like yours, that way i can do heavy double bas grooves on the hats and stil be able to play funk beats with some "ssshhh's" in it as you describe them =)
