Re: Steve Gorman (Black Crowes) gear question

Yes very underrated drummer, stays out of the spotlight (as do the Crowes as a whole!)

It looks like he switched to Paiste last August: ...

Re: Best 2 up 2 down Sizes for Rock?

I'm playing mostly hard rock, I wouldn't want to go smaller than a 22. More concerned about sound than easier transport...

Re: Best 2 up 2 down Sizes for Rock?

I have a 24x14 bass with my Ludwig kit and I like it, but I think I want this new kit to have a 22 just to have it in my inventory and have something a little smaller that can be more controlled.

Re: DW Collectors Maple vs. Yamaha PHX Maple

I realize they're different animals, but I wasn't really looking to compare apples to apples, just curious about what people think of them both and what their experience is with them if they've had...

Re: Best 2 up 2 down Sizes for Rock?

I suppose 12, 13, 16, 18 wouldn't be bad either. Although for the types of gigs I'm playing, I could probably leave the 18 at home (usually not playing large stages).

I like a good 12 and a good...

Re: Best 2 up 2 down Sizes for Rock?

I feel like a 10 might be too small for what I typically play. So I'm probably going to go with either:

12 13 14 16- not too sure about the closeness between sizes though.

-or-

12 14 16 18-...

Best 2 up 2 down Sizes for Rock?

I want to get a new kit with 2 up and 2 down. I'll probably be using Yamaha's Hex Rack II system for the rack toms. But I can't settle on the sizes. I'm playing rock/hard rock.

What are you...

Good Store to buy Yamaha Drums?

I'm looking to order some new Yammies, Absolute Maple but I'm wondering if there are any known stores that won't rip you off and have good service for ordering? I've tried a few but they are slow and...

Re: Yamaha Japanese made drums

Man, they're shooting themselves in the foot. Most USA consumers avoid Made in China like the plague, especially if it's a big purchase like drums. It might be true that there is almost no difference...

DW Performance vs Yamaha Absolute Maple

I have a nice set of Ludwig drums that I've been gigging with for the past 2 years, they will always be my main kit for recording and big stage, but I am looking at getting another kit that is a...

How do you act when playing? Stage presence

What do you do when drumming during a show? Do you smile? shake your head? Stick tricks?

I feel like I need to be more animated when drumming, but it's difficult to know what to do. I usually just...

Recording Drums: Hours per average song?

Going into the studio next month with the band to record our EP of 6 tracks (songs, hard rock) professionally. I've got my stuff down pretty well but not extremely experienced when it comes to going...

Re: E drums. Holy crap.

Not real drumming IMO. Might be an ok practice tool. But they take the art out of drumming. I don't consider computers as instruments.

Re: Do you emulate your heroes?

Yes, although I try to not to overdo it. I notoriously do triplet fills like bonzo, it just comes out =P

Re: Advice for an audition?

Just relax. Every audition is different and everyone's methods are different. I tend to not practice too intensely beforehand, just work on specific things that you think need more attention and...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple vs. Keystone vs. Legacy Classic

Thanks for all your input. I'm going with the Keystones this time! I managed to track down a new one (albeit across the country) in the Psychedelic Red finish that I'm in love with. The deals even...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple vs. Keystone vs. Legacy Classic

Thanks for the info! Yes, I think all signs point to the Keystone series. I think I'm only hesitant because it's one of those situations where the item you want and are looking for is less expensive...

Ludwig Classic Maple vs. Keystone vs. Legacy Classic

Hi, I'm interested in buying a high-end Ludwig kit very soon but I'm having a hell of a time figuring out which one is right for me. I know there's no substitute to actually sitting down and playing...
