Traditional left hand

I've been playing traditional grip for some years now. I've gradually developed speed and control and I seem to hit a brick wall with my left hand. I got a few concerns and I'm seeking some word of...

Re: Carrying practice pads

Thanks for your opinions, advice, and suggestions!

Just the thought of the course criteria really made me worried about my overall performance in uni, which is why I thought bringing this back....

Carrying practice pads

I used to carry a pair of sticks and a practice pad around when I was in high school. Since I'm doing music in uni now, I thought maybe I could carry a pad around and squeeze a little practice time...

Re: What are your Drumming Prejudices?

What really gets me going are:

-Players who really focus on the double kicks. I'm not saying that they completely useless, but it's more of an "optional" thing to me. They are really cool and...

Re: Drummers who play too much!

This is a really good topic to brought up in my opinion, especially to the aspiring drummers.

Don't get me wrong for targetting the novice drummers. I myself am still a beginner, in terms of...

Truly a man to be respected and inspired from...

The pioneer of double kicks......without Louie Bellson we wouldn't have all that double bass metal stuff.

Rest in Peace Louie....you have...

Re: Tips for self-taught drummers

Yeah, definitely agree with that if you put in the kind of time in that Buddy did, that is if you start playing when you're 18 months old, and probably spend 16 hours a day trying to figure things...

Re: Building speed: slow focusing on technique - or just go for it?

I definitetly go with both. You don't want to tense your muscles to compensate for the speed, which I find is a rather weak technique. You'll drain a lot energy before halfway through your practice...

Re: Getting the sound in your head to your hands

Okay, so write it out, slow it down. Change the way you play; interesting. Now I only have a practice pad, and a couple of soft surfaces to hit. I'm kinda losing creativity on it though....

Also,...

Re: Getting the sound in your head to your hands

Well not just the groove, but fills and solos as well. Yeah, by sound I meant the kind of playing, not the specific sound of the drums I want. So writing it out would be one I guess.
Singing along....

Getting the sound in your head to your hands

Maybe there's a thread on this forum already or an article about it outside. Forgive me if I didn't do enough research (I search the forum though).

I kinda have a style of my own by now already;...

Re: Wanting feedback on this kit with odd sizes - Please contribute!

I do think the rack toms could be a little bigger, probably 12" and 13"s, though I do like the idea of the shallowed depth. To me this kit sounds like a hard rock/punk/metal kit, so I'd prefer toms...

Re: Are Warlords worth it?

I think Lars' snare's actually $699CAD or something. The $2400 one is the bell brass version, which I've never seen him playing one.

About the Warlords: GORGEOUS drums, but you can get snares that...

Re: 8 Hour Practices

So coincidently Elvin played 8 hours a day as well? Thinking about drumming....maybe you should include it in your 8 hour practice!

Matched grip: unmatch

I started off with match grip 4 years ago. About last year, I got really serious into playing, and played traditional. Now I'm better playing traditional grip than match. But now I have a serious...

Re: 8 Hour Practices

Didn't Elvin played 13 hours a day when he was a kid?

What's important is that you practice right, rather than long. At first I was going to say it's ridiculous, but when you think about it, it's...

Anything from Dragonforce if you want something fast. Very progressive as well. Try something like Revolution Deathsquad or Fury of the Storm. Fast, but not very complicated.

Bass drum pedal substitution

Okay. So you don't have any pedals, not even those Hasenfutz practice pedals. Let's just say you cannot get them as well. You're sick and fed up with tapping on the floor. What other solutions can...
