Re: I can't HEAR my bass drum!

It's a flats kit so I have no idea of how to dampen the bass drum. I'm playing clean.

I deliberately tested it clean against another kit...I can't hear that bass drum either.

Also,...

I can't HEAR my bass drum!

Seriously I can't hear it at all. The only reason I know it's making a sound is because I can see the beater head moving and that I am moving my foot.

Any help?

Re: Odd things you do while you drum....

I have a tendency of closing my left eye and also inverting my left (bass drum pedal) foot inwards towards myself at a strange angle when I'm not using it.....

Re: Who's drum sound are you going after?

Do I actually have to admit this...?

Rick Allen of Def Leppard. Yes I know he's only got one arm but I'm a massive fan of Def Leppard.

I just love the sound on 'Women' and also the really...

Playing with suspected carpal tunnel syndrome/RSI...what to do?

OK I'm really gearing up my playing because of band commitments and also a personal project I'm doing.

The problem is this- recently I've been in AGONY with swollen wrists, to the point where I...

Re: Where do you put your drums?/Practise rooms

I live in a block of apartments and this one is a major issue, especially as I live with 6 non-musicians. At the moment it's my room which I use to practice though at one point I was using the...

Sounds a stupid question but how do you know when drums are properly tuned?

I've just gotten a kit of my own after playing a Tama kit borrowed from a friend and am wondering how I know if my drums are properly in tune. With this being a flats kit I can't tell so easily as on...

Re: If you could jam with any bass player?

I'd choose Mark King or Peter Hook. Both are among the greatest British bassists ever.

Either that or myself. I've done this when I did a recording of my bass and played along.

How do I set up my kit leftie?

I recently discovered that I play better when I play leftie. Problem is, I can't remember how to set up my kit leftie!

How do I do this?

Re: Should I return to drumming in this band, or just quit?

This is whatI've been doing, and I seriously think that choosing bass over drums was a stupid idea.
As for the highlighted point (my edit), I am a musician who needs to give everything to a band...

Re: Should I return to drumming in this band, or just quit?

We're a Christian Union band, playing worship music for our main meetings. To be fair it's mostly down to how many people sign-up and who plays what. There have been years with loads of drummers and...

Re: Should I return to drumming in this band, or just quit?

Might be worth mentioning that I have already done a fill-in for the band, and felt much happier then. This is why I'm asking- is it worth abandoning bass for it?

Should I return to drumming in this band, or just quit?

Basically I decided to play bass in a university band this year, and now I'm really fed-up with the situation. The band is strictly a voluntary band, and we ended up with 6 bassists, myself included....

Need some help buying my first kit?

I've been playing drums non-seriously for about 6 months. The problem is the kit I use- it's dreadful! It's been cobbled together from a couple of spare kits my university has and the sound quality...

Need some rhythm section advice!

I do actually play the drums, but my main instrument is bass, and I am about to play bass in a worship band.

My question is- how do I make sure sure I work well with the 3 drummers who also...
