Re: Best drums under $1500?

You get every kit mentioned by toddbishop (and plenty more) in a vexed out Roland TD-15. Food for thought.

Rockstar Dream come true, sort of

When I was a teen in the 70's I spent a lot of weekend nights at the Spectrum in Philly going to rock concerts, along with an occasional Sixers/Flyers game . My dream was to someday play there! I...

Re: Preparing for the first gig

nerves before a gig.. double shot of Johnnie Walker Black usually does the trick. This is probably horrible advise from a non drinker. Seriously tho my first band before going on we would all do 1...

Re: Difference between Mapex Meridian + MPX

The difference I noticed by owning both is the Meridians look like any other maple horizontal shell (like a keller) where the MPX I had was horizontal grain with what appeared to be 3-4 seams on the...

Re: Mapex Armory series

Came very close to getting these, but went with the Meridian Maples with the upgraded Black Panther snare for $450. Then picked up a couple used HHX cymbals with the left over $$$. The Cobalt Blue...

Re: I Need to Get Re-Motivted

Looking at snare drums I cant afford does not inspire me,Watching youtube vids of some of the top drummers always inspires me, after 2 or 3 vids I usually end up with sticks in hand behind set.

Re: Drums and beer at my first ever band tryout!

Don't drink and drum/drive is a good suggestion. I fell off my stool when I was 17 playing a kegger gig and have not drank during a gig since. I'm 52 now.

Re: Just got home from a gig and I'm just so bummed

" but I royally flubbed up a key fill in our second song, and it just set me in a bad place right off the bat."

Hate when this happens! I can so relate, some mistakes are hard to shake. Had this...

Re: Q Drums Vs. DW

If $$$ was not a concern my dream set would be SQ2's. Someone mentioned the Q set would have no resale value like other custom drums, I don't believe this to be true at all, Q seems to have put...

Re: Strip it???

You may have answered your own question by saying you like the looks of it. Personally I would leave it and buy something less expensive, say orphan drums if it is an desire you have to refinish...

Re: OCD or normal jacking around?

I know it was mentioned a couple times but tuning is my pet peve.. if I go down the basement to play it usually ends up 66% playing and 33% tuning.. most of it is snare drums.. high to low and fat...

Re: Many cymbals yes, but many snares?

My wife questioned me about my snare obsession and I compared it to her shoe obsession.. its very similar. She has about 50 pair.. I constantly rotate keeping about 4-6 snares and 6-10 cymbals at all...

For the best of both worlds I believe Gibraltar makes a combo metal/wood hoop. That may be an option, though the cost is a little more.. Paying "$60 for something to sit between your legs" I've paid...

Re: Catalina vs Concept vs Mydentity vs ???

+1 got my meridians for 550 and they came with an upgraded maple/walnut black panther snare. I really don't think I could have gotten anything better for 550 new or used. plus there is nothing like...

Re: Double Snare Day

When I checked mine I didn't take the bottom head off so didn't see them. I do get more buzz then on any of my other snares but I really love the sound of the drum. It is amazing for the price.
