Re: Too Old To Play???

Stone. I like that! I'm gonna start using that measurement term. Sounds manly.

Re: Too Old To Play???

I turned 51 last month and like Bruce I have played more in the last 10 years than I did in the first 25. I have osteoarthritis but it doesn't seem to affect my playing too greatly (I'm not as fast...

Re: Drinking and Drumming

I don't think anyone ever died from someone having a few drinks and playing drums.

A drink or two? Sure, through the course of the night, but not because "I think it makes me play better." I just...

Re: Bid like a man!

It's stupid to bid back and forth. All you are doing is getting into a bid battle and running the bid up. The guy did the smart thing. The way to play the game is to come in at the last minute and...

Re: S****y albums done by great bands..

Coda was an album of outtakes...sort of a "cleaning the shelves" type album.

Defenders Of The Faith - Judas Priest
Flick Of the Switch - AC/DC
The Battle Rages On - Deep Purple
Hot Spaces -...

Re: How many times have you been asked...

Unless I know them, the answer is "no". Like a lot of the others on here my fear is some goober cracking a cymbal by doing his seagull-wrestling-a-fish Keith Moon impersonation. I'm not going to...

Re: The being fired or quitting thread

Most of my endeavors have just been the whole band "fading away" and dissolving.

The only two times I did an abrupt "I'm outta here" type quitting was when both situations involved most of the...

Re: Had enough...

My response is to start playing air guitar and say "OK...but on that one part you should play wang wang wiggy wig barang and on that bridge you should do a doodle doodle doodle do wow wow wow." They...

Re: This was from 31 YEARS ago...

Bought Spring Session M when it came out. Was about the only New Wave-ish music I ever liked.

Re: OSP brand

If it is the same OSP that I have seen it is a house brand for Sigler Music, based in Arkansas (had three stores at one time). If I remember correctly OSP stood for "Official Sigler Product".

I...

Re: Bass drum AND a floor tom?

I'm not worried about switching it back and forth quickly, just like the idea that I could use it as one or the other if need be.

Bass drum AND a floor tom?

Many moons ago before I got interested in micro kits and the idea of converting floor toms into bass drums, I saw a photo (maybe on eBay...not sure) of a floor tom that someone had mounted bass drum...

Re: Best way to go about selling cymbals? If I put them on craigslist, should I put a set price?

If you are going to do a "or best offer" option, you might as well just put your bottom dollar amount on it and be done. "OBO" tells me you are already going to take less than the price you...

Re: Need some info about Sonor Force 1001 drum kit

Sonor's bottom end kit at the time it came out. Not totally horrible, but their entry level kit nonetheless. And yes, good heads and tuning can perk things up.

Re: Have you ever gigged or practiced without a bass player?

Was in a band for over a year that had no bass player, mainly because we had trouble finding one. Acoustic guitar EQed lower than normal, electric lead/rhythm, and drums. Worked out well. Had many...

Re: Chrome peeling: re-chrome it, wrap it, or leave it alone?

I never went any further with it. I decided to just leave it be.
