Re: Anger, dismay and confusion

Recordings are good. They can can be a moral builder, a learning tool, and sometimes a reality check. Nothing wrong with any of those things.

Re: Light up drums??

I picked up 2 15 ft multi color led strips, and a sound activated controller with power supply. It isn't specifically for the drums, but could be adapted. They have multiple modes that can be set...

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

I am really surprised at how many players here don't use double bass. We play mostly alt rock, but hang out and perform with a lot of other bands who are in the metal scene were double bass is a must.

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

Somewhere between # 2 & 4.

I have tried various double pedals from no name, PDP, Axis, and currently have an Iron Cobra Junior (light and smooth). But I don't use it. Spent way too long with a...

Re: Does anyone actually like big finales?

I'm open to finales, but believe either the whole band is involved or no one otherwise it is just showboating.

Re: More Creative on a Larger Kit

I'm not creative enough to play on a 4 piece, so I use a 6 piece with as many cymbals. Honestly I use more traditional rock fills and feel limited with less than 3 toms. A 7 piece is just a little...

Re: Gorilla Music

Yeah, we are more alt rock, some other bands listed range to x-metal. So it is a rather mixed bill. Some of the younger bands on the bill are treating this like it is their big break, which I guess...

Gorilla Music

I've heard and seen plenty of negative things about these guys. Well a few weeks ago they contacted us about an end of month show for August, it was pretty easy to decline since we are booked every...

Re: Gigs - like buses

That's how it has been for us for the last year, dead silence then 3 - 5 bookings all at once. It has allowed us to stay booked about 1 - 2 months in advance. Next goal, be one of the bands that is...

Re: Contrats To Bermuda!

Based on the social media blitz this last week I knew it would be successful. Most of the tracks are also top quality, right up there with Straight out of Lynwood. Looking forward to the tour now....

Re: Trusting others with your kit?

Usually I'm not as I've offered to share my kit at a few gigs over the last few years. That said, you are talking about kids, personally I wouldn't unless I knew about them and was familiar with...

Re: The matching snare

Matching here, but only because it came with the shell pack. Ddrum Dominion, red/black duo fade. The snare is a 13" X 7" Maple and sounds great to my ear. My other snares are all 14" steel and or...

Re: A new drummer

Thanks for the link, even though I have been playing for a long time I have some bad, or under developed techniques. Based on his grip and rebound lesson I use too much wrist and not enough fingers....

Re: Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz here!

Thanks for the quick and comprehensive reply, you definitely nailed the vintage marching sound, to the extent that I wasn't sure. Looking forward to the video on Friday.

So far I have been...

Re: Jon "Bermuda" Schwartz here!

Loving the drumwork on "Mandatory Fun", have listened to the whole album about 5 times since getting it yesterday. Question, did you do the marching band stuff on "Sports Song" or did Al use a...

Re: What is this [picture]

The containers look like grease for the lugs. The 2 little square topped pieces go inside of the lugs that mount on the sides of the drums. They might be spares. This is one of the ways they can be...

Re: Making Ends Meet Between Tours?

One of my band mates had a chance to have a long talk with Lzzie Hale of Halestorm after one of their shows. She gave him a few words of advice which boiled down to find a group where you can be...

Re: Learning a Song You Hate

This topic has been a source of major contention in our band as well. Most of my choices get shot down by 2 specific members. The 3rd member is very easy going in this regard, but a lot of his...

Re: Ringo Starr... Good or bad?

It always boils down to this, whether you are talking Neil Peart, John Bonham, Lars Ulrich, or Meg White. Love em or hate em, they are the people who made that music. Sure, many might play better...

Re: A Possible Gig with Acoustic Guitars - A Query

When we do acoustic shows, which is not that often I prefer hand drums, cajon, or my electric set. When I use the electric set I also use some of my smaller cymbals .... like a 16" for a ride.
