Re: Does anyone else hate splash cymbals?

LOVE splashes. Always at least one on my kit every time I play out. 8 and 10 inch are my weapons of choice, and preferrably UFIP Class series, medium weight.

Re: Sonor Ascent vs Dw Design

My Ascents are fantastic tubs. I would recommend them to anyone. They tune easily are very punchy and are VERY resonant. I also have a set of maple SQ2s that I play in my studio...the Ascents are...

Re: Sonor quality control problems!

I had a bit of filler in my Ascent 16" tom, other than that I have had spectacular success with all my Sonor purchases including a 7-pc Q2 set, multiple snares (Greb/Harrison 135/Protean) and my 7-pc...

Re: Sonor Gavin Harrison Protean Signature Snare Drum

No worries, Bradley. The Ascents are 'different' than my maple Q2s tonally. Louder? Only when I hit them harder. They certainly are not more dead - in fact, I prefer the Ascents when playing live...

Re: Is *not* being told you played a great gig as good/better than being complimented?

As a referee for the AHL, I was always told that the best refs were the one that werent noticed. Do your job, dont distract from the game and youre golden. I apply the same theory to drumming - get...

Re: Sonor Gavin Harrison Protean Signature Snare Drum

Ive had my Protean now going on 8 months or so, it tunes really well both high and low, very versatile. The throw-off, as mentioned, is smooth as glass, almost too easy to engage and disengage. The...

Re: custom drum companies

I have 2 Unix snares and they are amazing pieces of work. Francois is VERY easy to work with and without providing sizing, it would be hard to ballpark.

I endorse 4 companies: Sonor, Vater, Paiste and Porter&Davies. I dont play any other brand of drums/cymbals/sticks or thrones. I paid for all my products that I endorse....I just love the stuff I...

Re: Building a Custom Snare - Type of Wood Advice?

I have both beech and maple stave snares. They are absolute cannons. I suspect whatever you choose will be loud just due to the stave makeup

Re: The 13" Snare

I have a couple. The 13 x 5.75 Sonor Greb snare which is very versatile and a Unix 13 x 7 maple stave which is a cannon.

Re: we've all seen videos of kids playing drums but....

those Sonor pedals are a PITA to play, not smooth at all and this kid is KILLING it on one. I had the same pedal, but my big feet made it terribly difficult to play. Good to see young talent having...
