Re: wat do u rekon

I'd agree. Playing not so good drums is a pain , but I think having cheap crappy cymbals and hardware is far worse... just my opinion.

Re: Not impressed with my new shellpack!

RoertM is not the only one to hear this. Do a little more checking and I think you will find that lots of pros that endorse other brands go to Bill to do things that either others cant or wont do.

Re: What would YOU buy w/ $1800 in your pocket?

I wouldnt get both for 1800, but a new starclassic performer is only $1499 for a shell pack and there are deals out there... I am patient enough I could find a good deal on a used Sonor kit.

Re: What would YOU buy w/ $1800 in your pocket?

I would buy a new Starclassic performer kit or look for a good deal on a used Sonor S class kit. Try to get something different than I already have.

Re: Keller shells

That would be a sweet set! The 24x20 would be way cool... but if you step up to the 26 I would recommend staying with a 14 or 16in depth if its going to be your main kick drum. The 26 will sound...

Re: Deep Bass Drum & Shallow Bass Drum

The fundamental note will be the same. The 24x20 will move more air and resonate more than the 24x14. It will also have a big boomy sound. For Rock I like the 24x20 or even a 24x18 better than a...

Re: SJC Custom Drum Choices

I love big kicks... so I would pic the first one. Or get the second one and get a bigger kick. Good luck with it. They will look great!

Re: Looking for some new drums?

In that price range you could look at Starclassic Performers or GMS CL series. Both would be great for your style of music or... you could keep your eyes peeled for a nice used set.

Re: Aquarian Cymbal Springs?

I have used them off and on for years and never had a problem with them. But then I have never had a problem with normal felts and washers. I typically used them on my Ride or china where I didnt...

Re: Converting 2 Up, 1 Down to 1 Up 2 Down

Thats totally a cools setup. I play like that all the time. I currently have a 10 tom up top and a 12 and 16 tom on the floor. I love this setup. Also at church the kit has 10 , 12 and 15 in the...

Re: kit setup/sizes

I like setup # 2. Mainly because I like my ride to be closer to the bass drum. This just feels better to me and is easier for me to reach.

Re: before i order this DW kit...

For me I like more drums so I would get the cheaper finish to get more drums if I absolutely couldnt afford the exotic kit. But if you are comfortable with less drums then that is not such a issue....

Re: these sizes too big?

I have a similar setup. I needed more lowend to so I got a Gong Drum. I have had 18in floors before and did not like them as much as I do the gong drum. Of course this is just personal preference but...

Re: 8 or 10 lugs for 20 inch kick?

My experience has been 8 lugs for a 20in kick. I have a Pork Pie set with double 20in kicks and also play a DW at church with a 20in kick. All have 8 lugs and all are pro level.

Re: choosing between bass drum sizes and snare material

I have a 20x20 kick and love it. It sounds huge or small depending on how I muffle it. Its a great size and can handle just about any style.

Re: some comparisons

I like the Fast tom sizes. I have had all different sizes over the years and that is what my ear likes best and I think they are more responsive than deeper depth toms. But you just need to try both...
