I've used a lot of drum machines and sample over the years but never instead of an acoustic kit. I use the drum machines to add another dimension not possible through acoustic drums played alongside...

I know a guy who is left handed , plays a right handed kit set up but plays his Hi hat with his left hand and snare with his right.
