Re: Questions about kick drum heads

TBH, if I was buying a graphic for my drum head I wouldn't want to have to do any trimming at all. You'd be better making it an inch smaller rather than an inch bigger.
As has already been said, you...

Re: When you're in charge, which songs ...

Just one for me.
The Best by Tina Turner. Quite possibly the most awful song ever simply because it causes drunk women to believe they can sing, when in fact all they can do is screech like a...

Re: The side snare

I use a Mapex MPX 10" steel snare for accents. It has the tom fitting that enables me to attach it to my crash stand, saving me having to use another snare stand.

Re: Bad Auditions

Your original post:

So they want to interview & hear more drummers? That's totally acceptable. I'd be more worried if they had heard only you & gave you the stool on the spot without hearing the...

Re: Anyone ever try to poach your seat?

The band should have invited him for an audition, then when he got there told them what they thought of his actions.

I had to get a new car in February as my other one died. I was paying cash & was offered a fabulous deal on a 5 year old Jaguar X-type, but it wouldn't have fitted my kit in. I ended up getting a...

This, and not just the really bad ones.
There is a thread here about whether you read a thread depending on who has posted: well if there is one thing guaranteed to make me avoid a thread it's one...

I think Maple kits are actually more expensive than Birch, e.g Mapex Meridian Maple costs more than the Birch. It seems to be the same with most manufacturers as far as I can see.

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I've been keeping an eye out for a cheap kit that I can customise for my grandchildren - only 20 months & 16 months old so no rush(!) - & was asked if I wanted to buy a kit someone was getting rid...

Re: Anyone wear Hats on stage? Ball Cap? Fedora? What?

As a follically challenged chap I wear a beanie when it's cold or, more often, a bandana when it's warm to stop the sweat getting in my eyes.
I usually have to change it a couple of times. I sweat...

Re: What was the name of your first bands?

There's some great stuff in this thread!

The first band I was in was "The Objects" in 1978 & I was a (not very good) drummer. We had discovered Punk the year before & decided we wanted to play it...

Re: Need help choosing drum kit/shell pack

The snare is a Mapex Black Panther 12x7" Maple/Cherry that I picked up for a snip on ebay. A great drum that is no longer made, but I still see them regularly on ebay.
If you're thinking about...

Re: Need help choosing drum kit/shell pack

The M Birch is great. I have the Black Forest Sapphire version of the one they have on there, and very good it is too! It's certainly well worth considering.

Re: Need help choosing drum kit/shell pack
