Re: Joe Morello: Technique is Expressing What’s In Your Mind

I know I may be in the minority, but I would prefer to listen to Mel Lewis playing with Big Band than Buddy. Mel plays for the song, Buddy plays for Buddy.

I admire the superb technique of Buddy...

Re: Yamaha Phoenix potential purchase

Posting how much you pay for something on Open Forum can get kind of prickly. If you post the price, you get people commenting you paid way too much and then you feel foolish or they start asking you...

Re: Favorite floor tom size and why?

14 x 13 is my preferred size these days. I find 14" floor toms the easiest to tune up quickly. The Yamaha Club Custom 14 x 13 just sounds killer regardless of the head types.

I find 16" floor...

Re: Yamaha Phoenix potential purchase

I am glad to hear the new hook lugs will not be an issue for head changes and that really was my only issue with the drums. I truly love the sounds of the Phoenix series and I will need to sell some...

Yamaha Phoenix potential purchase

I am pondering the purchase of a Yamaha Phoenix kit in 20 x 14; 12 x 8 and 14 x 14 , tom mount on the bass drum. I realize these are pricey and it would probably entail me selling a couple of kits I...

Re: 12" wood hoops? Is there such a thing?

Joshua Tree Percussion makes a variety of different size hoops. I had great luck with a 13" pair on my former Yamaha Steve Jordan signature snare.
