Re: Do Youtube Drum Covers Influence What/How You Play?

I'm in no way trying to emulate what's on Youtube - just using it for a resource.

It's kinda like how you "think" you know the lyrics to a song. You know, you've been singing it for like 30 years...

Re: Do Youtube Drum Covers Influence What/How You Play?

Don't worry, Youtube is not my "be all, end all." I use it as a reference point for my playing. My point is that while I watch the playing in the video & listen to the song (I do sift through all...

Do Youtube Drum Covers Influence What/How You Play?

I have been trying to learn some new songs as of late and thought I'd visit Youtube so I could "see" what other drummers are playing as opposed to just listening to the song.

I am really amazed at...

Re: Band at the wrong gig. Full report - videos & photo's

Just curious.

Re: Got my 50th anniversary supra today!

I don't know about you, but I can't see my Supra badge while I'm playing - no matter which direction it faces.

Re: Got my 50th anniversary supra today!

Real pretty! I wish mine was a 6 1/2".

The one thing I have noticed about owning/playing a Supraphonic is that nobody else but other drummers care.

Hell, I can definitely appreciate a killer...

Re: Used Acrolite price jump?

Odd. I was just looking at Ebay the other night and it seemed to me that the Acrolite prices had come down.

Hmmm?

Re: Will this damage my bass drum?

I see no reason why it would harm your bass drum - unless the cymbals and the arm are made of lead. if that's the case, then I would worry.

A Singing Drummer's Mic Set-up

Hey guys,

I was was just wondering how many of you out there sing (lead and/or back-up) while you play your drums. And if so, what type of mic set-up do you use.

I think I may end up doing a...

Re: Realistic Expectations

Set small attainable goals at first. When you accomplish those, set higher goals. Always strive to move forward.

Don't compare yourself with professional drummers - ouch!!

I know that many...

Re: Being dragged out of the 60's

Appreciate it, Jim. Thank you very much.

My guitar player told me that he can really tell that I'm well connected with the current music scene.

I don't think I'm going to tell him about out...

Re: Being dragged out of the 60's

Jim,

I can really relate to what you're talking about. I'm in my first band but all the stuff I played/learned has been more in the realm of classic rock - the stuff I grew up with. It's in my...

Finding a Song's BPM

I'm in this new venture (it's the first time out for me) with a guitarist and bassist. Anyway, after 5 practices, the guitar player wants me to dial in the BPM for the songs we're practicing. So my...

Re: Judge Says Teen Drummer's Playing Isn't a Nuisance

If the kid just played a Mapex Saturn, this wouldn't even be an issue. There's got to be a spare set of Saturn's around somewhere!

Re: Ludwig 400 sound test with music

The drum sounded somewhat boxy to me. Where did you have it tune to? It sounded sort of medium-low. Most importantly, what happened to all those wonderful overtones that Supra's are famous for?

Re: Craviotto, C&C, Brady, Gretsch, Other?

I agree. Considering this was only his second post and he signed up over 3 years ago.

He certainly got a lot of responses for someone who never contributed. And what does he get out of all this?...

Re: Craviotto, C&C, Brady, Gretsch, Other?

I agree with Bob here. It would be very outlandish for a church to be showing off very expensive musical gear. I suppose the only exception to this would be a big 'ol pipe organ.

Get what's...
