Re: Neil Peart

50,000 Brazilian fans singing every word (including YYZ) at the top of their lungs. This crowd gets really into it. While the video & sound quality aren't top-notch like their R30 dvd (they explain...

Re: Lars Ulrich

Actually, what I said by Metallica "not really being 'metal' anymore" makes perfect sense. Did you notice how I said 'metal' ???? The meaning of "being metal", not necessarily playing metal music. ...

Re: Lars Ulrich

Yes, the difference was clear as day. Why? Because they're not really 'metal' anymore and they're 20 years older. Then again, Neil Peart is in his 50's and can still play songs like LaVilla...

Re: Lars Ulrich

The overall sound was crap, especially since the bass and midbass were almost non-exsistent (example: like most of Rush's releases in the 80's), but I do like his punchy bass drum on that album.

I...

Re: Lars Ulrich

A timbale.

Although it's obvious they wanted a "raw" sound for that album, his snare sound is a little too overbearing.

Re: Lars Ulrich

That entire show is available on Metallica's pay site. LiveMetallica.com (http://www.livemetallica.com/show.asp?show=41).

Dave Lombardo plays on 2 tracks as well. Much rather listen to him than...

Re: Lars Ulrich

Lars the man: From watching interviews, to the whole Napster debacle, to seeing 'Some Kind Of Monster', pretty much killed my interest in him. He's more of a business man than a musician & that darn...

Re: Neil Peart

No, you're not going to get burned at the steak for your opinion. However, I got so sick to my stomach after reading your post that I threw-up my dinner (just kidding!).

Although he is one of my...

Re: Neil Peart

It's kind of funny how things work out. Their music was better in the 70's, but some of his fantasy/sci-fi lyrical content wasn't the greatest. Then, they tone-down their music in the 80's, yet his...

Re: Gene Krupa

Photon,

It just boggles my mind, because you'd think that no matter what age you are and if you're truly into the instrument you're playing, you'd want to go back and listen to as many drummers as...

Re: Mike Portnoy

Travis Barker created it..........

Staying on topic with Portnoy. I've only heard a few Dream Theater songs, so my knowledge of them is limited.....but what I've heard made me not want to buy any...

Re: Bare Feet, Socks or Shoes?

Surprised nobody has mentioned D.B. Drum Shoes. (http://www.drumshoes.com/) They're pretty cheap. Also, there's a familiar name in the "artist" section. I'll pick a pair up sometime and let you...

Re: The Grand Master Buddy Rich

I bought 'Buddy Rich: At The Top' dvd tonight. Good concert, with some cool bonus solos and t.v. appearances.

It also claims to have a "blazing solo from a performance on The Mark Of Jazz, from...

Re: Travis Barker's Wife Is Hot

All I have to say is............remember when some of you were really young/naive and didn't know jack squat about music? You'll probably say "yes" and then remember that you were praising drummers...

Re: Ian Paice

I usually listen to everything, but when a classic rock band like Deep Purple comes on I'll shun it off, thinking "Eh.......smoke on the water.......corny", maybe because I'm younger and didn't grow...

First time I've heard the specifics of that rumor. How sad.

He's an average rock drummer. Unfortunately, the constant use of the open hi-hat in every single song, for almost the entire length of...

He was alone, in a studio. Blidingly fast doublebass work and...

I tried watched his dvd, 'Up Close' but was unable to finish it because the guy was either really tired or just a really bad speaker. Totally unwatchable.

I'm not a Gaddhead and so far from what...
