Re: Could have been awkward #2

On my, that is funny!

Sounds like an Monty Python skit

"Dear Sir, what are you doing with my wife?"

"oh, just having a round with her using my cajon"

"Ah, very well, carry on..."

Re: Songs that make you do a double-take when you sit to down to play them

There is a programmed drum machine running through much of the song. And a machine doesn't have to worry about only having two arms.

Re: Spousal Static - A mini Rant

I was gigging a lot when I met wife. She even used to help me unload the drums out of the car at the end of the night. She knew the job was dangerous when she married me.

Re: Becoming a Professional Drummer

That is great! And that sums it up really well.

To the OP, another piece of advice is when someone offers you great advice, log back in and acknowledge it, and don't run off and be just another...

Re: SKF Blog: Pete Best: If You Canít Have Fun, Donít Go Back On Stage

I'm always amazed in any interview I've read of him he never seems the least bit bitter or upset over what happened.

Re: What's My Next Move?

Finding band members is like dating.

You have to talk to a lot of people before something clicks.

Re: Used Premier XPK Kit

I agree with Less.

Depends on all of what exactly is included. Without pictures, it's hard to say.

Last January, Premier was running a special on XPK for 8, 10, 12 toms 14 and 16 floor toms,...

Re: What I Learned From Roy Burns 40-Years Ago

I miss the columns he used to write for Modern Drummer.

His career as a player is certainly over looked by most, in part because so many people only know him as the guy behind Aquarian drum heads.

Re: NEIL PEARTís New Book, ĎFar And Near: On Days Like These,í Due October

Ghost Rider was an amazing book. It doesn't matter if you like or hate Rush, or Neil, as it had the band and drums were barely even mentioned.

Traveling Music was a nice read, as it gets into...

Re: EPs or Album?

Given most people just simply don't buy albums anymore, I'd go the Ep route myself.

Re: More creative drumming with a cape on?

Oh my, I'm dying from laughing so hard over here.......

But the real question is:

Is drumming with a cape, on a Mapex kit, with a seat belt, while NOT drinking milk, nor listening to Kenny...

Re: Is it just me?

I think, in part, because people see that the K's and equivalents are the most expensive line of Zildjian (or whatever brand) and the thought most expensive = best, even though that is not...

So someone took the LA "pay to play" nation wide, huh?

I guess there are enough desperate bands out there.

Re: Potential drummer; have a maybe controversial question

If you to play 'em, play 'em.

Some people start playing drums at age 5, some at age 50. The drums themselves don't care how old you or aren't, or even how good you may or may NOT be.

All that...

Re: Annoying Sounds

I figured out a long time there is music I like to listen to and there is music I like to play.

Some of my favorite albums of all time are beyond my chop range.

Re: Help me choose which thread to read about which kit to buy

You should read the thread that has the most suggestions to read the existing threads on the subject.

Re: worth it?

I'm going to say no.

Assuming you have an Imperial Star now (and I assume a modern Imperial star, and not the 80's version), sell it all to get a Pearl Export is not an upgrade.

And selling...

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

Exactly my point!

But you see, 99% of the time someone makes this thread, claiming to be "more creative" on a smaller kit, this is all they mean.

Of course, most of get that, but the average...

Re: Does anyone actually like big finales?

At the end of every song, they become really cliche and tiring fast.

At the end of the set, go for it.

Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

What, the NFL now thinks they are a club on the Sunset Strip?

Pay to play, buy-ins and such are nothing new.
But, huh, no.

Re: More Creative on a Smaller Kit

I just think any sense of context is missing here in most of the answers (save Tony and a few others).

Creative how?

If you're playing covers, or backing a band with specific parts, how...
