Re: Fusion sizes

All about the tuning. I have a 18" kick with considerably more bonham boom than my 22" right now. There's arguably a few brands that have very limited tuning range, but with the right heads I'd be...

Re: Drum covers, whats your strategies?

I start by getting a chart for the song. It helps to know the structure and bars for each section.
I then listen to the song until it's stuck in my head. I look for hooks or key areas for the...

Re: All this talk of Trip-lets has got me thinking..

This helps me a ton! I've been struggling to voice this all month on a fill, something I could play but couldn't own until I could count it.

However, it's not exact ;)

Re: Playing More Musically

Re: Fills on a three piece?

I'm pretty much a no talent hack but if it's 8th notes I'll throw some accented triplets to mix things up. I don't use the toms much, maybe one or two hits total. linear triplets and paradiddles...

Re: How cold is too cold?

I'm pretty sure blankets only work on things that produce heat themselves.

Re: This a thread that proably hasn't been done before.

I usually ask for a carton of lucky strikes, but my family will never buy them for me. I can't really blame them now though, 80 bucks is a lot.

Re: How to deal with a day job?

Sounds like a midlife crisis. I am not my job, though it takes up a big portion of my life, basically more than sleeping. You can make that 1/3rd of the day worth the rest of it, or you can change...

Re: The very important position of the ride cymbal.

which one? :)

if it's 1 up 1 down to the right over the bass drum and partially over the floor tom.
If it's 2 up 2 down, partially over the mid rack tom high, (second ride below it partially...

Re: Don't take our word for it!

I have problems with over-choice. I do a lot of research before I buy and have a running tally of things that work and things that I avoid. The best feedback I've seen on these posts is from people...

Re: Don't take our word for it!

Levar Burton, of star trek fame, has a catch phrase on this children's program where he and other kids suggest books that they like, then end it with "But you don't have to take my word for it" thus...

Re: Help me out with a real tough decision

The chance to do something this rare should be taken. Build this set and pioneer a new enterprise. The world could use some more pear trees :)

Re: New member, random question.

Depends on your neighbors as well. I was in an apt and played with the cymbal & drum mutes most of the time, and would occasionally play loud when it was alright with the neighbors. Talk to them...

He left out the part where they're lynx, pumas, cheetahs, mountain lions, lions, and tigers. He also had a sabre tooth tiger once but it went for his kit and now they're officially extinct.

Re: Powerful snare hit when playing fast Hi-hat.

A lot of drummers I watch are a lot of arms, bringing their wrists up to their shoulders to get big hits etc. I don't think I ever raise my hands more than a couple inches so I get the dynamic range...
