Re: How many drum kits have you owned?

I've owned four kits.

1989 Pearl Export in Ferrari Red.
1990 Pearl Export in Jet Black. (they discontinued the Red and I wanted more drums)

I played that kit from 1990 until 2014.

Bought...

Re: Ludwig Green Sparkle...only Bonham sizes?

Just a guess but I would assume that most shops that stock higher end drums like CM would stock the most popular size/finish combos due to the high cost of inventory. MOST (I think you would be the...

Re: Dream Kit

They sound really good. I ended up going with clear heads on the toms at the suggestion of Bermuda and it really livened them up while still retaining the classic tone they are known for. I...

Re: Dream Kit

Fortunate enough to own my dream kit. I miiiiiiiiight get a different finish if I could choose from all of them, but this finish is really beautiful and has really grown on me. Would also like to...

Re: Looking for a single mic to record covers at home

A similar choice to the SM57 is the Samson Q7. I found three on eBay for $20 each and they make great snare and kick mics.

Re: Just starting at 53 and will need all the help I can get!

Learning to play drums (or any instrument for that matter) is so rewarding. You will learn a great skill and learn a lot about yourself in the process. Good luck to you. There are a lot of...

Re: Kinda' ok with slowing down

You will come back to it as long as the fire is still burning. It may be down to just the pilot light at this point but don't second guess yourself over your desire to play music. If you stopped...

Re: Head and tuning choice for Ludwig Epic

Neither were Epics but both used Ludwig kits I've purchased had this combo on them at the time of purchase so it must be a favorite among Ludwig players.

Re: If you were sitting behind my kit.

It may be above your budget but I LOVE the Constantinople 19" Crash/Ride. It's a contrast on the ride end from your heavy 22 and has a fantastic (IMO) crash sound. They are steep new and finding...

Re: Where do you shop online for vintage gear?

Not sure what these should go for but a Google search gave me several directions to go. Both Sam Ash and GC have Vintage sections and there are several online store dedicated to vintage drums as...

Re: Lugwig Legacy. How good of a deal is this?

The finish has really grown on me. I'd seen kits in this finish online and thought it looked cheap. It's much better in person.

I'm not really sure how I ended up taking it home. It had been in...

Re: Lugwig Legacy. How good of a deal is this?

I tuned the whole set with my traditional Coated Emperor batter and Coated Ambassador reso combo and it sounded good but honestly a little dry. At the suggestion of Bermuda, who has a lot of time...

Re: My Ludwig Classic Maples finally arrived!

So much to love about this kit. Sizes, rail cosolette mount, BD cymbal holder. Perfect classic kit. Any plans to add an 18"?

Re: Lugwig Legacy. How good of a deal is this?

I picked these guys up today. They in good shape. Definitely some dust and grime but nothing that can't be cleaned. The store was fantastic. They swapped the reso head on the kick so I could keep...

HAHA that's the million dollar question at the moment. I will know in a couple of days. I'm thinking they are probably a little worse than advertised. Some cosmetic stuff I can live with. Just...

Re: ?uestlove's new Tonight Show Kit

He also had a sweet smoke grey Vistalite for a while too. The Tonight Show gets massive exposure so I'm sure he will have lots of unique and nice kits from Ludwig.
