Re: Can memory locks be sexy?

Hi Andy,

The bass drum spurs look great, another detail which has been giving serious thought. And (R&D) costs.
I figure the memory locks would be aimed primarily at having the same angle to the...

Re: Only 1 week to go!! (+announcement)

Hi Andy, I hope it will be like most deadlines: a lot of people wait until the last minute.
I haven't touched a stick in weeks (extremely busy), I hope I can find some time end of the week.

The...

Re: brass vs steel sensitone

I own a steel and brass snare and if you like a more warm, 'belly low' sound, I would suggest a brass over a steel snare. It would be best to try for yourself though.

Re: Drumless Tracks - Help

It's like Bill Ray said.

I noticed the alternating BPM's as well when practicing songs (like some Jimi Hendrix) for my former classic rock band.
Over the last decades a steady BPM has become more...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

I never got to like the 15" Masterwork Sehhar hihats I bought in an impulse.
I like all my other Masterwork cymbals but those hats just don't work for me.

I usually do some (or a lot) research...

Re: Bearing edge Sunday.

I see you have the same strange working times as I do - downside of your own business ;-).

It's interesting to see how you start with a piece of wood and other raw materials and end up with a...

Re: First photos - In-Tense series black walnut stave

Hi Andy,

Another great looking kit, I bet it sounds great as well!

I was wondering, as I know you do a lot of research and testing before building, why are you using one long lug, connecting...

Re: Mixers with built in compression

Sorry, I don't agree with this. With the Yamaha 166C you can add compression to 6 individual channels, before output/monitoring/recording.
After recording a stereo (or l+r, sub 1+2 or whatever) mix,...

Re: Musicstore.de 'Einzelstück' products?

Yes, I already did but they don't have to reputation of replying to e-mails fast. Or even at all.

It appears an 'Einzelstück' item shows up one at a time at a certain price. Once that item is...

I completely agree. If you don't want to take the trouble, then fine but you won't win of course.
And I appreciate this price from Guru Drums even more because it is a small company building high...

The sound matches the looks, wonderful.

And I still enjoy the bubinga snare every time I play it, so another happy customer!

Re: Wearing hearing protection issue

I use ear protection but the other musicians usually don't. For the record: I just play amateur bands for a hobby.

IMO, I think everyone should wear those ear plugs (they are not expensive). One...

Re: New drum kit: Gretsch Renown vs DW Design vs Sonor Select Force vs (maybe) Ludwig Centennial

So you got the kit at good price, congrats.

I wondered about this as well. I think it would be hard to tell which is which in a 'blind' audio test.

Coincidentally, I had a small problem...

Re: New drum kit: Gretsch Renown vs DW Design vs Sonor Select Force vs (maybe) Ludwig Centennial

aarwonable, thanks for your feedback.
I noticed the not so common sizes of the Ludwig as well.
So far I'm happy with my Renowns.

Can you try replacing the tension rods?
Seems an annoying...

Re: new Gretsch Renown maple in Silver Oyster :-)

It was 1) Tama 2) Ash 3) Renown.
It surprised me a bit as well, I thought the birch Tama birch would be brighter than the maple Renown. It could be the recording though.
I agree on the sound of the...
