Re: Covering a song with band above my skill level (Opinions on hitting the "key" points)

I would keep the 16th note feel and ditch the accents if you cant pull them off. I cant listen to it at work, but I know the song and I feel the song really rides on that funky kind of beat. As long...

Re: EPs or Album?

I have quite a bit of insight into this as my band just released a full length LP. Our reason for doing so was that it is something we always wanted to do. Releasing an album with the full artwork,...

Re: Musically, what are you involved with at the present?

I remember seeing you guys on there. My wife watches the show pretty regularly and has me watch things she thinks I will like. TBH, I got a pretty bad taste in my mouth when some guys I know from CT...

Re: Musically, what are you involved with at the present?

Re: Is it just me?

I play the small bar/club scene here and I would say I have mics about 1/3 of the time. Even then its mostly just a kick/snare mic combo. One of the bigger places we play has a full close micing...

Re: Gorilla Music

I made the mistake of playing one of the Gorilla shows. I had read all of the negative press, but they had a great venue booked on a Saturday night so we rolled the dice. It worked out very well for...

Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

I dont know. I mean the NFL is a corporation and the goal of any corporation is to make money. Somebody went to the NFL and said, "hey lets charge the acts for the halftime show." The NFL then went...

Re: Not doing a gig because of the venue

I usually try to book bars with bad reputations. Unless the reputation is that nobody shows up. Sometimes a nice fight fight in the crowd makes for a great show.

BTW, whats this pay in advance...

Bad hi-hat recording

Its very rare that I listen to a song and can pin point specific things that sound wrong to me. Im not usually that analytical. However, on the new Seether record the hi-hat sound is terrible. Bad...

Re: I Want to Gig!

I guess the music scene in your paticular area has quite a bit to do with the availability of bands. I put an ad on CL a few years ago and got 5 or 6 responses within the first week. Between that and...

Re: Drummerworld Dictionary

Im surprised nobodys mentioned endorsemets yet. Its not an official DW thread without somebody asking about an endorsement.

Re: Gigs - like buses

I though you meant that you gotta watch out for them or they will run you over.

Congrats on the gigs. I know they can be hard to come by.

Re: Mapex saturn iv exotic ir tama starclassic maple

Mapex Saturn is the answer to all questions in the universe.

If you have any further questions refer to the "Drummerworld Dictionary" that should cure your quest for information.

Re: The Stick Trick that Confuses All of Your Friends

The trick that confuses my friends is the one where I go to hit a cymbal and the stick flies across the room. Gets 'em every time.

Is Shemp a verb in the DW dictionary? I know Saturned is and I'm pretty sure Bo's avatar is as well.

The answer is three, but I wonder why such a simple question from a pro drummer.

I have been playing in original bands around the country for twenty years and unless I was on tour I have almost...

Re: Pearl VBL vs Tama Superstar Hyperdrive

I play a superstar hyperdirve and I think it is a great kit. It has been my gigging/touring kit for the last 5 years and it has held up perfectly. It has been kicked, stepped on, rained on, had shit...

Re: Another Band Drama Thread

I'm already in my 40's, so I guess its too late. Read the above post about the sweet spot on vintage amps. For the type of music we play the tubes start to really saturate at around 12:00, which is...

Re: Former MEGADETH Members Nick Menza, James LoMenzo Cover METALLICA Motorbreath

I heard this the other day. Pretty cool, one of the better Metallica covers out there. I will reserve judgement until I hear their original stuff, but all in all I am glad to see Nick making music...

Re: EGO's

The guitarist in my band is a great musician and songwriter, but he is pretty much a huge prick. Its not necessarily an ego thing but its just who he is. I think some people are just wired that way....
