Re: Tips on Selling a Drumset?

Craigslist is great if you are in a hurry but you will get far more cash off Ebay. I can buy or sell pretty much any pro level cymbal on Craigslist for $100 cash, like a 18" A Zildjian Med Thin crash...

Re: Was Lars' double-bass on the track Dyers Eve a fraud?

Wow, really sad to see people, ever some of the so called "pros" on this board beating up on a famous drummer. I couldn't care less but I do know that I've seen the band dozens of times and back in...

Re: Playing to click - the mechanics

A lot of the casino bands or oldies acts sequence a lot of horn parts or percussion, so I as the drummer am in charge of running the tracks, so I am the only one hearing the click and the band...

Re: stick in the eye anyone? not for the meek!

Sawdust in the eyes is pretty common unless one plays like a wuss lol. I def need to have my fan blowing from behind or I'd be blind.

Re: Unpopular Drumming Opinion Thread

I think Freddie Gruber hurt, NOT helped Peart, Weckl and more. I say this because if you look at Peart's kits before Freddie, he had three toms up front and his ride was nice and off to the far...

Re: Drummers are athletes

IMO a lot of drummers technique is wasteful of energy. I'd like to see the same test done on Vinnie. Someone who swings from the shoulders and elbows will use (just guessing) 3x more energy than the...

Re: Please help me find this kit (Tama Lars Ulrich Signature)

I too always wanted that kit and kinda settled for an 11 piece Imperialstar kit but it doesn't have those black Granstar lugs which look awesome. I am having a very hard time finding those telscoping...

Re: Has your band ever been told what you can or can't play?

I find "Rape me" by Nirvana doesn't go well at weddings :)

Re: Dry hands

I use tennis racket wrap on my sticks and Zee fabric bandaids to keep the blisters down but many times I will dip my fingers into my mixed drink as whiskey is pretty sticky lol!

Re: Just how much DO drummers make?

And yet never once in a Modern Drummer or similar mag does the interviewer ask the drummer how much he makes, which pisses me off. I was never afraid to just ask anybody how much their gig or job...

Re: I can only play original music?

I can't imagine ever becoming a great drummer if you can't nail parts played by others, especially easy parts but maybe it's because you haven't tried long enough. Why don't you make a video of you...

Re: Please help determining value of these Recording Customs.

Where are you located? I might buy them just to keep the drums together. I about had a freaking stroke when I saw some idiot on ebay split up a Pearl CZX kit, which is very rare!

Re: Are studios necessary?

That drum software will get you NOWHERE near the same sound as having all of the brilliant people that work at Oceanway recording your band, not even close! Most people that have go to Full Sail and...

Re: How often do you break/drop your sticks?

I use 2b sticks or Alex Van Halen models and I rarely drop a stick but for a typical casino or bar gig lasting 3 hours I break 2-4 per gig. Remember, Lars broke upwards of 20 sticks a night before he...

Re: Please help determining value of these Recording Customs.

I'd hate to guess their value but by all means do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT SPLIT the drums up for sale as some moron will want a 4 piece and will ruin a very nice larger kit. These drums were made to be...

Go to Oceanway or any real studio and then try and make your band sound like that! GOOD LUCK!

Re: Band Not Wanting To Stay In Time?

Lots of bands record an album and once the label and everyone involved on mastering it is done it sounds nothing like the band had intended. I hear that all the time. Here is a perfect example of...

Re: How do you go about learning songs?

For pop music I just listen over and over and play in on my legs or table with no drums usually and perhaps once behind a kit before I play it live.
