Re: Most Under-rated Drummers

I think Wuv of P.O.D. and Chad Butler of Switchfoot are horribly underrated. They're really good drummers just that they don't get recognition because they're drummers in Christian bands. Wuv...

Re: Most Under-rated Drummers

Dave McClain of Machine head is also really under-rated... He's really good. Really consistent and talented. I really don't know why so few people know about him.

Sully Erna also... He doesn't...

Re: Metal Drummers

My favourite metal drummers are:

George Kollias (Nile) - insane speed!
Raymond Herrera (Fear Factory) - the best double-bass drumming I've heard so far.
Derek Roddy - super cool drummer.

Re: Being nervous

Just get into the 'mood' of the music... Just rock out... Then you'll fly through the whole gig.

Re: Metal Drummers

Hey! I like Extol, David Husvik and I have their 'Synergy' album. Superb technical metal. But because its a Christian band, its really overlooked. *sigh*

Re: Metal Drummers

When it comes to extreme metal, my favourites gotta be George Kollias, Derek Roddy and Raymond Herrera.

Re: What special clothes do you wear when drumming?

I play in casual jeans or 3/4 pants, t-shirt and trek shoes. Trek shoes because better response on the kick drums. Actually I like playing barefoot too but sometimes my toes ain't right with that...

Re: Blisters.

You obviously know how to grip your sticks perfectly... I still have to get used to gripping lightly... I'm always scared my sticks will go flyin'.

Re: Blisters.

Actually yeah now I think its the way I grip my sticks. I've been using 5As for quite a long time so my hands should be used to it... In fact, I didn't get blisters when I tried my new grip, both on...

Re: Is 15 too old to start playing?

15 is not too old, definitely. I only started playing drums at 16+.

Re: What annoys you on peoples drum sets?

These things bug me the most:

- Poorly-tuned snare drums,
- Extremely low-lying drum thrones (because I'm quite short),
- Strange angles for rack toms,
- Tape and etc. stuck onto drumskins,
-...

Blisters.

Yo,

I decided to start this thread for those who have problems with blisters (me included). My problem with blisters is that I'm quite a hard-hitter.

Let's discuss, what can we do to avoid...

Re: Morgan Rose

Morgan Rose is freaking awesome! He's one of the best drummers I've ever heard off, and Sevendust is one of my favourite bands.

Anyone tried his new signature stick, Whiplash?

Re: Nicko McBrain

Nicko McBrain is the king of the hill! He's one of the most distinctive drummers I know, and he does really complex grooves. I'd rate him in the same class as Mike Portnoy. I'm quite surprised that...

Re: Sonor Vs Tama

I'd go with the Tama, but only because of lack of experience with Sonor, Pearl, DW and so on... I've only tried Yamaha and Tama, and Tama seems the best that can exist. Here in Singapore, can only...

Re: Derek Roddy

Yeah I think it's stupid, too. Derek Roddy and Joey Jordison cannot be compared as they belong to two different kinds of music. I haven't seen Joey Jordison do anything remotely as good as Derek...

Re: George Kollias

George Kollias is a killer at the drumset. He's among the fastest drummers I've ever seen, might even be faster than Ray Herrera...
