Re: Can a reso head kill the sustain?

Yes it can when you tune it too tight or too loose.

Re: Little bar gigs with a V-drum TD9?

Why not, Aydee? I know a drummer even played an SPD live, so why should V-Drums be a problem?

Re: Is Ludwig Classic Maple tom's sound always vintage?

You're right. I didn't notice that the bearing edges are actually rounded, which is the case of the "vintage" version (while the modern version has sharp angled bearing edges like Sqadan said). It...

Is Ludwig Classic Maple tom's sound always vintage?

Sorry if there was any similar thread before.

I like this kit, it comes with stock heads, but I'm wondering if it's just me or the sound is really always vintage to everyone's ears. It sounds like...

Re: Roland 9 k

I don't have the TD-9KX either (I own a TD-4KX), but I played a TD-9K once. The KX is equipped with the pads used on TD-12K. These pads are much more expensive than rubber pads hence big difference...

Question on snare

Does anybody have any experience with this snare?
It's 13x4 Yamaha 1.2 mm steel shell with 1.6 mm triple flanged hoops.
I know...

Re: duuuude!!!!

Couldn't agree more ....!

13" A Custom is also excellent. Not sure if it's better than the K, both are excellent, it depends on your taste.

Re: Drum Workshop Worth The Cash?

I used to play DW Collector's Maple kit on stage albeit I've never owned one. In my opinion DW does have the quality for the price, but I'm sure this quality can be obtained in some other lower...

Re: Bad Drums

Actually there is (at least) a bad drum kit: Pearl Target.

Target and Forum series that are available today are the new versions that were introduced just lately. I don't know about the new...

Re: Which one's the best

There's no "better than ....." kit, all are high quality drums and of course good. They're just made of different wood materials hence different tonal characteristics except Starclassic Maple and...

Re: sell the yammie?

If you're not short of cash I suggest that you keep the Tour Custom. Having 2 sets isn't a bad idea at all.

Btw, are you sure the tom is 8x12? AFAIK the Tour doesn't produce 8x12, but 9x12, and it...

Re: Advice - Used Kit

Good deal.
Btw, are you sure the rack tom is 12x12 and not 8x12?

Re: What's the best mid-range acoustic kit?

From the options you're considering, I assume birch is your preference. Among these three, Vision VBX is full birch, a bit more expensive than the others. But you can opt VSX or VX which are less...

Re: What is your dream kit including cymbals?

Ludwig Classic Maple black oyster ala Ringo Starr's
Zildjian A Custom ala Vinnie Colaiuta's
Hopefully next year I'll have saved enough money to make this dream come true

Re: Need help finding new toms to match a Swingstar set (sound-wise)

I'm afraid you can't get them from Tama. Swingstar has been discontinued and its replacement, Imperialstar, isn't quite similar sound wise. Imperialstar is a bit brighter. However, with a proper...

Re: Maple vs Birch

It's all a matter of taste. It's not a "cheaper then lower quality" thing. Maple trees grow longer than birch. To obtain the best wood material from the trees, maple takes a longer time than birch....

Re: Swingstar vs Mapex Venus

It's a very tough call. Swingstar and Venus are equal in sound and quality. The only difference that I notice is that Swingstar has a better hardware and Venus has better triple flanged hoops....

Re: My Drumkit

Do you mean 502?
Stage Custom is really not bad at all, it's a mid leveled kit. I like its sound very much.

Re: Kit Sharing: My Personal Hell

Kit sharing is always a problem for me. That's why I don't change anything from the original setup if it's not my kit, maybe I change the heights of the snare and cymbal stands a bit, but I always...

Re: yamaha Birch Custom Absolute

Birch Custom Absolute is a high end kit, one of my favorites from Yamaha products. Considering the toms are small, maybe you don't need to replace the original 1 ply heads, they'll sound better than...
