Re: Acrylic snares???? gen me up

Our big drum shop here in Chicago is Vic's. They have two Crush acrylic kits. But no snares. The guy said they have been waiting for six months for them.

Re: Pearls MCX Masters Maple Snare Drum?

I have a Pearl Masters MCX set (13/16/22). I got the (6.5) snare to match. It's slightly above average while I feel the rest of the kit is far above average.

I play alternative rock. The snare...

Re: Considering a Yamaha Oak Custom set - Tell me everything you know...

Mine is a four piece kit with the short kick drum (22x14). So I went with a PS3 kick batter and ambassador kick reso. Not two PS3's. I also leave the contact patch off of the batter side PS3. I...

Re: Considering a Yamaha Oak Custom set - Tell me everything you know...

You are right. After posting this I did a Google search for the snare (the hardest piece to find). There is a shop here in Chicago that has the exact set I wanted with the snare. Going to look at...

Re: Considering a Yamaha Oak Custom set - Tell me everything you know...

I'm teetering on one of these kits too. Two places here in Chicago have them on the floor. One has that short kick. Three piece. The other place has the large kick and the four piece.

Both...

Re: Second exotic hard rock kit in larger sizes

So you endorse double ply heads on the harder woods? The yammies come with Emporers. I might go thicker than that. Make them nice and fat.

Second exotic hard rock kit in larger sizes

I have a Pearl Master's which I like. I'm thinking of a second kit to fit my gigs.

I play in a classic rock original band. The Master's works really well for the classic rock band.
The hard...

Re: Jason Bonham

I would totally agree. Right from year four, you're expected to amaze the world. How do you deal with that AND find four other ones who will amaze?

Does anyone know details on his equipment now?

Re: yamaha drum help! stage customs

That is a great deal. And I would get the newer ones with YESS and smaller lugs, not a used set. If you look on GC's web site you can find more add-on toms for them than for anyone else. Upgrades...

Re: DW or Sonor?

Having had all three, I say anything but DW. Nice. Not worth the price. The mid-level Yamaha and Sonor kits rocked my Collector's set for consistency and build quality.
I like DW hardware better....

Can we re-create Rick Allen's Pyromania sound today "naturally"?

Is this possible without a triggered Simmons head unit and/or e-kit? With the advances in acoustic drum mounts, heads and tuning I hope we can actually do this "organically" instead of going...
