Re: Snare drum Olympics - help needed - opportunity!

And it goes to a wonderful player and person as well!

Damn you Bermuda! I was going to splurge and buy TWO ;)

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

I would think the musical application of those 200 bpm/16th notes would make one an expert ;)

Re: Irony?

Semantics aside, perhaps I was ;)

I suppose this does open that "signature can of worms", but there are some signature snares that I think are really good, like the Stewart Copeland, and the Elvin...

Re: Irony?

I suppose this could be the cultural appeal. It's odd that whatever musically is out there, they're chasing names like "supraphonic", "stratocaster", "telecaster", "Les Paul", or "Moog", eh?

Irony?

So general discussion - if you're an artist for a drum manufacturer, why would you settle for a signature snare drum that is reasonably priced if the manufacturer makes beautiful totally expensive...

Re: I think I might have been practicing wrong for a long time..

But for now you'll settle for getting all the horsey sounds and race car noise gigs in town, eh?

Re: Poll: do you double bass?

I'm a 3. I have a double pedal, but it's currently in the corner right now.

Re: How about a 22x13" ?

Nice work!

Maybe a Remo Starfire chrome mirror head for your reso. That looks great on black drums with chrome hardware ;)

Re: I think I might have been practicing wrong for a long time..

Are either of you studying with anybody? Sometimes a good teacher makes all the difference in the world.

What I do when I feel 'in a slump' - and I've been playing professionally for almost 30...

Re: Part source help

If you're going to recover your kit, why not plug the holes altogether? I saw a drum builder take 1-inch dowels, cut to length, inserted and glued into the holes and re-wrapped the drum. He doweled...

Re: What drummers need for a gig

The case idea is negligible. If you're traveling alone in your own car and moving your stuff on your own, you might be able to get away without them. The reason I have cases is that I ride in an...

Re: When you're in charge, which songs ...

You don't so much 'hear' Miley Cyrus as much as you 'see' Miley Cyrus. That's painful on its own ;)

Re: The constantly changing drum room

Yeah - way over limit. However, as I'm entertaining a new band in my house this coming week, I thought I'd make the effort and have them look semi-normal. You'll notice I've gone back to my regular...

Re: The constantly changing drum room

Ha! The door should be bigger ;)

Yes, the Optimount came off my Ref Pure tom since it lives in it's own snare stand. I so find those ISS mounts questionable when I saw them on a. export kit. ...

Re: The constantly changing drum room

Alas, no. Drums just have a tendency to come and go around here. Although as I've said many times I'm really diggin' the Reference drums, and I still have my Ludwig Classic Maples, although they...

Re: The constantly changing drum room

Yes - the Breakbeats went to another DW member here who contacted me and said he'd like to buy them. So we managed a meet up and they went him. This Vision bop kit is actually really nice. It's...

Re: The constantly changing drum room

No. The Reference Pures come with a nice white coated Pearl logo head which is actually a Remo Powerstroke 3. It's a nice head, so I didn't want to cut a hole in it. I had the Remo Starfire head...

The constantly changing drum room

So I received another Pearl kit the other day - and the ol' drum room got cleaned and re-set. I got the Pearl Vision VBL bop kit which consists of a 5.5x14 snare, 8x12 rack tom, 14x14 floor tom, and...

Re: How our perspective changes

So regarding the Japanese perspective, I guess we should really celebrate those guys then. I wonder how privileged Akira Jimbo (among other fine Japanese drumset artists) was to be able to play at...

How our perspective changes

Like everyone else here, I read alot about people going to eKits for the quiet practice, or guys trying to discover ways to mute their acoustic kits so they're not bothering everyone.

The other...

Re: Naked shell porn - Old school finishing.

Beautiful! Those must be for my single-headed concert tom kit I special-ordered. I know you said to not let the cat out of the bag, but I couldn't help myself ;)
