Re: So you're going to a band audition...

Wouldn't it be great if DW had a map, that pinpointed where everybody is, if they chose to list their coordinates? I am almost certain we have many near Cinci, Boston, NYC, Chi, Detroit and St...

Re: Upgrade From Yamaha DP... 60's Ludwig?

This is a decent comparison, and plenty more out there
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MtHwMOCllg

I wouldn't sweat drilled bass drums or not, as there is plenty of debate on this site) whether...

Re: Upgrade From Yamaha DP... 60's Ludwig?

Great idea. I love 13-16-22 setup.
if you enjoy that 3 ply sound, you might also expand your search to consider some 60's -early 70's Slingerlands in those sizes. They too have an excellent fat,...

Re: Do Youtube Drum Covers Influence What/How You Play?

Because it sounds just like it does on the record, and now you see exactly how he/she did it.

I'd agree its important to listen and try, but YouTube is just another resource to help.

Re: Do Youtube Drum Covers Influence What/How You Play?

I think it can be helpful for when you are stuck. But beware, some you tube drummers stick in parts or 'nuances' that are not there at all too. No getting down on yourself because its a journey....

Re: Craigslist ads crack me up....

Here's one:

"Guitarist and bassist looking for a drummer. We have pro-level gear and you should too - good set of symbols and skins. Should also have a jam space, as we don't have one"

Re: Band at the wrong gig. Full report - videos & photo's

Quite a smattering of musical types at one gig. Great PR for your drums too.
Doesn't Martin Chambers kind a look like he belongs in Lynyrd Skynyrd, not the Pretenders?
Glad it went well.

Re: Happy Birthday Tony Williams ...

Gave this a listen today. Much more accessible to me than his early 70's stuff.

But whats the backstory? Tony is only 17 and recording with these guys, and Miles and other luminaries. I doubt he...

Re: The newer Premier APK and XPK line of drums...

Ya I don't get this. How are drums being trashed at a church? Like are people abusing them or multiple setups by people who strip lugs and things...?

Do they have to be new? There are many used...

Re: PEARL MASTERS MCX?

The snare tone on that clip can be gotten easily by what you have. Tune up your bottom and top heads - tight! My guess is you have not tuned high enough.

Also your snare sounds different meters...

I have never owned one, but have read on here many times both of those lines are good value, and sound good, especially the cheaper APK. It sounds like you did a search already, but I know plenty is...

Re: Hal Blaine: Inside the “Eve of Destruction”

Who woulda thought? ...playing an upside down snare drum.
I also learned somewhere on here that the strange snare sounds in I Shall Be Released (Band) was Levon simply strumming the snare wires, no...

Re: Harvard study of time keeping and groove

A cynical if not paranoid view. This is just curiosity driven research, like a lot of other scientific research.....not Big Brother trying to make a buck.

Interesting studies. The PNAS study (hardly bed time reading) is not for the uninitiated to stats and bioscience !

Many have commented how in general pre-click track music of decades ago has more...

Re: Is there a place or does anyone do cymbal swapping?

People do place c/list ads deliberately for trades. I've seen a few for cymbals locally. It is less common than buying.

Re: How to handle this situation

Everybody is right - this is a really just a business for him and you are an employee.
My view would be that working for a smelly boss is worth at very least equal pay.
